Anyone want to post their final predictions here...the nominees will be announced tomorrow and can be discussed here too. Thought it would be easier to contain it all into one thread.
Anyway, I think the most interesting race will be Best Featured Actress in a Musical...
Will both ladies from XANADU get nominated?
Will Stew or Cheyenne get the last slot for Best Actor in a Musical? Will YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN get shut out or get way more nominations than anyone could predict?
This year, the nominees are more exciting to me than the actual winners, most of which are pretty guaranteed at this point, IMO.
they have been anounced in these past years by 9am and 9:30am est standard time. it is usually announced on tv and will be posted the websites right then and there.
early wake up call for me tommorrow 7:45,i will be watching it the nominations online and then post it here when they start. but at the same time is when in the heights is performing on gma. i would set your dvr before 8:30am for safety reasons. then on their website( tony awards) they will have the nominees there, and you print out a ballot.
i dont want to see in the heights do a medley. if a little mermaid is nominated they should do part of your world and the under the sea medley....but would love to see a speacil when, if they sing under the sea have the two flounders sing a few lines
in the past only the best musical and best revival musicals have performed on the night of the tonys. but legally blonde and another musical was suppose to perform last year even though they were not nominated in either category but were scheduled too though. but since many were mad that those two didnt perform, i think they are considering other shows that opended that year and nominated in the other categoies to perform. they will have one or two speacil performances like jersey boys did last year. thers always a speacil opening to the tony award show. i do want see meg and sho peform the switch roles for wicked and too bad the girls from spring awakening can not perform bitch of living. other than that musicals can go onto talk shows in nyc and perform there if the show asks them. they can do event stuff. every musical performs at stars in the alley in shubert alley near spamalot. even though their show didnt open the past year, its a great time for the theatre communitty comes together.

I either August: Osage County and South Pacific will probably get the most nominations.
On another note, I have a gut feeling that The Little Mermaid may get the Pirate Queen treatment and get completley snubbed tomorrow morning.
"You drank a charm to kill John Proctor's wife! You drank a charm to kill Goody Proctor!" - Betty Parris to Abigail Williams in Arthur Miller's The Crucible
"I mean, sitting side by side with another man watching Patti LuPone play Rose in GYPSY on Broadway is essentially the equivalent of having hardcore sex." -Wanna Be A Foster.
"Say 'Goody.' Say 'Bubbi.'" ... "That's it. Exactly as if it were 'Goody.' Now I know you're gonna sing 'Goody' this time, but nevertheless..."
New musicals have 2 more categories than revival musicals (book and score), and 4 more than most plays (orchestrations and choreography). It's hard for a play to come out on top for that reason. My prediction is In the Heights with 11 nominations, followed by South Pacific and August: Osage County with 10 each.
"What was the name of that cheese that I like?"
"you can't run away forever...but there's nothing wrong with getting a good head start"
"well I hope and I pray, that maybe someday, you'll walk in the room with my heart"
i live 20 mins right out of the city and do not get new york 1 channel to where somewhere said you can watch the nominees being announced. google new york 1 and you can prob see it there. but i think once they are done kathie lee and hoda will be talking about and i know the view would be too. once they get announced tony award website will post them right then. its def in my paper the next day.
speacil performances like jersey boys sand december 1963(oh what a night) in between nominations.
i agree in the heights and south pacific will get alot of noms tommorrow.
Some of my favorite posts that will be all over the board tomorrow:
1. What were they thinking???!!!(add more ?, or !'s, depending on the amount of frustration).
2. That's it! The Tonys have lost all credibility for me! How can they nominate (insert show/performer here) over (repeat)?
3. (Name of the show) nominated for (insert category)? That doesn't make sense!
4. Do you think that (insert name of performer or show with zero chances of winning) could pull an upset?
5. (Insert name of performer who barely had a chance of a nomination) you really deserved it! They don't know what they're doing!
6. What? (insert name of poster's favorite show) only gets (x) nominations and (insert name of show) gets (x)?!
7. The infamous "let's trash the show/performer threads" : It's all because they know they can go on tour! / It was the worst show of the season / S/He was barely onstage for a few minutes / They're just giving him/her the nomination because of his-her reputation
8. The old-versus new-"Of course (performer) was going to get a nomination. Tony committee members love newcomers." "Of course (performer) was going to get a nomination over a newcomer. Tony committee members always favor Broadway legends"
9. The "let's bring it back/ rub salt on wounds" threads: "Of course it's all like that time when ChenzelIdinaPinkisinsPajamaGameSweeneyPattiLaChanzePassionRaul DavidHydePierceContactblablabla...yeah!

I read last year that they broadcast the majority of it on the CBS morning show. Sara Ramirez and DHP are announcing. I would love to see them, but I don't get NY1 and I am busy in the morning. I DVRed CBS just in case.
Pretty pretty please don't you ever ever feel like you're less than f**ckin' perfect!
