I was listening to 96,000 and it sounds like a Rap song. I'm not a fan of rap music does that mean I won't like this show? I've heard its a good show but is it all RAP MUSIC?

No, it's not all rap music. The score is an infusion of hip hop, pop, and various Latin musical influences (salsa, merengue, boleros, plena, bomba, reggaeton, etc). There are plenty of ballads, and songs that have a very traditional showtune vibe to them.
Go to the ITH My Space page, and listen to some of the other songs. You can also check out some scenes/songs on You Tube. Just search for In The Heights.
If you still don't like what you hear, you probably won't enjoy the show.
Same ^^ I hate rap, hate hate hate it! Yet I've seen the show four times, it's my favorite. But if you don't like that song then you may not like it. It's a lot of that and that's probably the best song or best scene.
It's not rap, it's influenced by reaggaton though, and yet it has a very showtune feel to it. That's the brilliance of both the song and the whole score. The title song and "It Won't be Long Now" (the Usnavi/Sony verse) are much more influenced by rap. I hate rap, hip hop, and reaggaton but I love the IN THE HEIGHTS demo which includes the title song, "96'000," "Paciencia Y Fe," "It Won't Be Long Now," "When You're Home," "Everything I Know," "Hear Me Out," and the Finale.
"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"
I was just about to say that. I've noticed that most people who outright diss these genres are usually unfamiliar with them. I mean, I get that we have different tastes, but if you actually like In The Heights, how can you say you *HATE* rap, hip hop and regueton, when they're at the very core of the show's vibe and score? I think if you gave these genres a fair shot, you might find some artists you'd enjoy.
Personally, I love hip hop, and especially regueton. And I'm a big musical theatre nerd. They're not mutually exclusive, you know. :)
not a rap fan at all but i love love LOVE this show.
