Okay... Next weekend.. I am going to see LuPONE GYPSY again...since I will be staying in NYC for the whole weekend. Here's my questions: The discount code on Playbill.com for GYPSY Tickets on 8 pm shows.

1. I am always getting MEZZ tickets on the site...No more Orchestra seats.. should I just wait bec. they are going to release more discount tickets for Orchestra seats as it approaches the date or they ONLY have few alloted seats for that broadwayoffers discount.

2. If I pick MEZZ...like row M.. Is that a good seat? Believe it or now.. I have never had MEZZ seats. I am always sitting either in the Balcony (for cheap tixs) or orchestra (orchestra) How's the view? I asked bec. I felt like if I sit there I wont feel like being a "part" of the show... you know Miss Patti's entrance in "Sing Out, Louise"!

_ I know that's only one part..most of the time she is onstage...but i love her entrance...that's why I want to be seated in the Orchestra section.

Pls advise? Thanks

Jay,

hey buddy

I also wanted to see Gypsy from a great orch seat. I am going to see The New Century on this Sat night and wanted to go on Sat mat. I checked everyday and today and I finally got a good seat row d seat 2 in the orch with the discount. So it looks like the premium type seats are held and released a few days ahead. So it might benefit you to wait if you can.

J*, there is the Good, Front Mezz, the first 5 rows, otherwise don't bother, because the Rear part of the mezz goes WAAY up and and far back.
Also, the "house seats" are released exactly 48 hours before show time, but it's a crapshoot, if you want to take that chance. So, say, if you want Sat. nite, the house seats that are NOT picked up are released to the public, exactly 48 hours before, up until the 8 pm performance.
Sat. nite, though is always tougher than other perfs, to get great seats.

Not bad, I think. It's up to you.
About 13 rows back. It's a pretty lg. Orch., but not that bad.

Thank you guys... I think that's what I am going to do.. is to wait till midweek next week.

I personally think that GYPSY should be seen in the ORCHESTRA or at least front MEZZ..I have seen GYPSY last month and I feel like part of the beauty of the show is you feel like you are "a part of the show"~ the vaudeville acts, the burlesque act....
meaning you are the audience.

I dont know if if you can really feel that if you are sitting waaaaaaaaayyy too far. I went to see THE HOMECOMING last weekend and i think I mentioned that the theater was 1/2 full and I moved to the MEZZANINE section of the Cort Theater..at first I sat at the back...It felt weird bec. you have this roof (which is the balcony) over you and somehow you are seeing a portion of the stage (missing the arch of the whole proscenium) so I moved to the Front MEZZ and I thought it was the best place in that theater bec. the stage is high for front orchestra...

I guess.. I will wait few more days.. I just dont wanna pay $117.00... I alreaday seen the show and this will be my number# 2.

Thanks again for your inputs! re: Broadwayoffer.com Question:

Jay,

Something is definitely going on with the discount codes. I used to always use them and get AMAZING ORCH seats. ORCH seats have dried up for most discounts. It makes me so sad. Doesnt matter the show, the discount seats get worse and worse. Often if you look for regular priced seats, you will get the good ones. UGH!

Sorry to keep asking, but how is row J in the left side orch? Is that good? I waited and waited but finally decided to go ahead and buy these with the discount because I was scared I won't have tickets at all if I waited too long. I know, stupid, but I'm taking my sister and I REALLY want her to have a good time and not worry about getting tix for the one day that we have!

How far left? What's the number? If it's more than 5 or 6 seats in (#10,12, or #9,11) it's going to be further than the middle of the left or right section, that is, there are usually 13 or 14 seats in each of the side sections. Look at the seating chart. It's not really bad, except if you're closer than Row J and seat # 25, or 26. That's on the end of the row.
Hope that makes sense. I think you'll be fine. Just enjoy the show and bring opera glasses or binocs, if you want to see every movement of La Diva's mouth!
