Michigan' senate has chosen not to pursue a re-vote.

Obama should have helped come up with a solution that doesn't disenfranchise the people of Michigan and Florida. But he dug his heels in and refused to help.

He was obstructionist in this, and you can't blame them for being pissed off.

And Hillary would be all for it had Obama "won" in those states? Since you know what Obama should have done, maybe you should suggest to Lady C that she should honor her word.

The candidate will always want the option that suits his needs best--they are politicians after all. Some of us have no illusions about that be it for O or C.

Yes but with all the talk of a new politics, it seems very meanspirited to disenfranchise two states, doesn't it?

I think Florida at the very least deserves better. This process is absurd. Then to think nothing has changed to improve the general election. Some democracy.

it is just as suspicious for a Clinton supporter to want the revote as it is for an obama supporter not to.

Getting away from that, in such a close race we need to hear from all the people, especially when we keep saying that the nominee should be the will of the people.

Leaving it as is doesnt help Clinton in delegates or popular votes but it does come off as wins to superdelegates. Because they have to make their decision based on November. And November includes those states.

If obama is so decisively the nominee, why is he afraid of a revote?

It had the funding. It can be done. It has failed because he wouldnt come to the table.

And that's pissing off superdelegates as well.

"Rules" are what kept black people and women from voting for decades. Isn't the New Politics was supposed to be about justice not rules?

"If obama is so decisively the nominee, why is he afraid of a revote? "

The only thing he is afraid of is pushing this out past June. Even if Hillary wins both of those states it does not change anything.

"It had the funding. It can be done. It has failed because he wouldnt come to the table. "

That's not my understanding. He disagrees with a mail-in in Michigan and where the money for it came from.

Pelosi (who is the last person I would rely on) has suggested this will be over soon, (PA I imagine) and the superdelagates would do harm to the party by overturning the delegates.

All Pelosi said is "It's a delegates race."

If Clinton has the lead in the popular vote and Obama has a slight lead in the delegates, the superdelegates are supposed to vote for the candidate they think best. There's absolutely no precedent for their having to vote according to anything other than their personal choice.

We live in exciting times.

'Super'delegates are still just delegates in the overall scheme of things. Expecting them to vote lockstep with anyone for any reason denies their function.

And if that's the way it is suggested they play it, then I expect to see Ted Kennedy out stumping for Hillary.

So if she loses in the popular vote and the delegates which is likely you think the superdelegates should vote differently?

...you think the superdelegates should vote differently

I think to try to dictate what the 800+ superdelegates should do is pointless. The system is set up that they should vote as they think best. There is as much likelihood that they will swing to Obama that they will swing to Hillary.

They are ALL politicians, after all.

But off the record do you think voting against the popular vote and the delegates are reasonable?

I totally loathe this entire process and I think Hillary got screwed big time in caucus states. The problem is that changing this system this late and then flipping the outcome seems insane.

yes, I believe that. That's their role. And it's the rules.

And otherwise, ted Kennedy has to vote for Clinton.

I know it may stun you but I believe in fair elections--not just what's going to get my person elected.

"I know it may stun you but I believe in fair elections--not just what's going to get my person elected."

This is not a fair election. 1 person 1 vote, if you don't play by those rules it's not very democratic.

This whole superdelegate thing will hopefully go away and never come back. Scary stuff.
