I heared that their gonna make a movie version of into the woods, does anyone know anything about it? I think people are just trying to mess with me, but I thought it's worth chacking here.
Yes. Tim Burton is set to direct the Dreamworks/Warner Bros. co-production which is set to go before the cameras this fall for a tentative Christmas 2009 release. Anne Hathaway is in talks to play Cinderella. Several actresses are being considered for The Witch among them Michelle Pfeiffer and Vanessa Williams. James Marsden among those being tapped to play Cinderella's Prince. Updated On: 2/28/08 at 07:23 AM
There was going to be one in hte mid-90s. They had a reading at Penny Marshall (I think) aka Laverne's home. This was the cast:
Robin Williams (the Baker), Goldie Hawn (the Baker's Wife), Cher (the Witch), Steve Martin (the Wolf), Danny DeVito (the Giant), Elijah Wood (Jack), Roseanne (Jack's Mother), Bebe Neuwirth (Cinderella's Stepmother), Mayim Bialik (Little Red Riding Hood), Samantha Mathis (Rapunzel), Brendan Fraser (Rapunzel's Prince), Moira Kelly (Cinderella), Kyle MacLachlan (Cinderella's Prince) and Michael Jeter (Cinderella's Father)
If you were expecting a polite, honest answer you have obviously never posted on this board before. You could've guessed the response the second you decided to forego proper grammar/spelling/punctuation.
But since you need your hand held, I have never heard of this movie. People on these boards were expressing wishes that Tim Burton would make a movie of it when Sweeney Todd came out, but that's all.
Plus it's not like you could've found this information with a simple internet search.

Ah, I remember when IMDb had James Earl Jones listed as playing Collins in the "Rent" movie. Thankfully, everything ever listed on IMDb is legitimate and true, and his performance was the highlight of the film.
I actually saw this for the first time the other day, directed from the "Into the Woods" article on the Muppet wiki, and it's pretty interesting to see what potential changes they had made to the script.
BDRISCH thanks for that. I had recalled reading/hearing about a possible animated version a while back....that post seems to dismiss that potential project (if the Sondheim quote is accurate).
IMDb may not have reliable detailed information such as some casting and other things, but have you ever seen a film get very far in pre-production without being on that website?
