By no means am I trying to belittle the death of Heath Ledger, but I want to draw attention to Terry Gilliam and his plight through filmmaking. It seems like every movie he tries to make is beset with some sort of awful problem and now the star of his new movie dies.

Uncool. I really feel for Gilliam too.

I didn't feel well when it was over. I kind of wanted to cry and throw up.

Back on topic though.... I saw The Man Who Killed Don Quixote recently. I had been in Spain working on a commercial when that happened. A couple of the Techs on the commercial shoot had just returned from the set for that movie right after they had to stop production. They pretty much told me of the string of bad luck Gilliam had run into. TMWKDQ really captures that!
Iit does look like with this untimely death that Gilliam is still under that black cloud!

Yeah Lost in La Mancha is completely heartbreaking. You really really really REALLY want to see Gilliam succeed.

Now with Heath Ledger's death, it seems as if his fortune will not turn. Hopefully, he will be able to finish the film someway...somehow...

I'm just thankful and grateful for every film he makes. There are enough people who believe in his talent.

"I'm just thankful and grateful for every film he makes. There are enough people who believe in his talent."

Cruel, are you speaking about Gilliam or Ledger? Both are extremely talented professionals.

Terry Gilliam was JK Rowling's choice to be director for the first Harry Potter movie, but the studio decided to go with Chris Columbus and he even said that if they offer him any other Harry Potter movies that WB had their chance and they blew it.

I was talking about Gilliam but Ledger was amazing as well.

I said this in a previous thread but Ledger's performance as one facet of Bob Dylan really helped me cope with my parents' divorce. I'll always thank him for that.

Guh. I know a movie is nothing compared to a human life, but Jesus, Terry Gilliam is a guy you really want to see do well.

From awardsdaily.com:

JustJared reports the news that Johnny Depp is desired, shall we say, to step in to replace Ledger in Terry Gilliam’s The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus:

A studio source said: “There is a point in the film when Heath falls through a magic mirror. He could change into another character after that and that is where Johnny would come in.

“It’s a weird, fantasy, time-travel movie so Heath’s character could easily change appearance. It would be a poignant moment.

They are merely “hoping” Depp will say yes. It’s still a rumor, and as it is from the SUN, who knows if there is any truth to it at all.
"One no longer loves one's insight enough once one communicates it."

The opposite of creation isn't war, it's stagnation.

If that's true, that may actually be great news. I'd hate to see Heath's final performance get thrown onto a scrap heap, even if it was halfway finished. It deserves to be seen.

Plus, Terry Gilliam is a guy you really want to see do well.
