Barbra Streisand: A Christmas Album

Anyone else reminiscing about days of yoah? My father got this CD as a joke at the holiday work party, and my mother decided to put it on while we're putting tinsel on the tree. Her version of "Jingle Bells" almost scared me away.

It's my favorite of all Jewish-performers-do-Christmas albums.

Look up that Jingle Bells on YouTube--there are drag queens and animations galore!

I just saw a list on a news show about the top 5 most annoying Christmas songs. Barbra's Jingle Bells was #5. #1 was the barking dogs version of Jingle Bells. The #1 most favorite was Nat King Cole's The Christmas Song and Bing Crosby's White Christmas was #2. Just reporting here. Personally, I never understood Jewish singers recording Christmas songs. I guess people love their voice so much that they want to hear it at Christmas time. Religion is such a sacred thing that it seems almost sacreligious to sing about something you don't believe in. That's just my opinion. Happy Holidays! mom

I love her and it's (mostly) a great album, but her "Jingle Bells" is so maniacal! It gives me a headache.

Lighten up, folks.

"Jingle Bells?" is a lot of fun; Fiddler meets West Side Story. It is much better than her 2nd Xmas album which is boooooooring.

Other great Xmas albums: Sinatra, Lena Horne, Julie Andrews, Josh Groban, the Carpenters, Nancy LaMott, et al.

Well, many of these songs are considered art and therefore the religious aspect doesn't really matter.

Or should only Jewish people perform Fiddler?

the bottom line is to make a good album; not the religion of the singer.

happy holidays to all.
