The Nicholas Brothers' eye-popping final dance sequence from "Stormy Weather" is, without a doubt, the single greatest dance number I've ever seen.

The barn raising in 7 Brides, perhaps.
No good can possibly come from using this vast wasteland of error and deliberate deceit. You should get off of it and warn others away. You should make sure your children and grandchildren know what a corrupt and morally bankrupt institution it truly is.

That's just wrong, papa.

We just watched Singin' In The Rain in my American Film Studies class and that dance sequence was the first thing that popped into my head when I saw the thread title. I thought it was fantastic.

First scene in my head was the barn raising dance in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.

Heh, we watched that scene from Royal Wedding too. It was nifty. We had to write an essay on how we thought it was done, though, which was not quite so nifty.

Shall we Dance from The King and I
Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist. Every full moon he sacrifices 4 puppies to the Dark Lord and smears their blood on his paino. This should help you understand the score for Wicked a little bit more. Tazber's: Reply to Is Stephen Schwartz a Practicing Christian

Most of these are obvious, but still close to my heart:

-Judy Garland doing "Get Happy" from SUMMER STOCK

-"The Dance at the Gym" from WEST SIDE STORY

-"Consider Yourself," "Who Will Buy," and "Oom Pah Pah" from OLIVER!

-"Mein Herr" from CABARET

-"Step in Time" from MARY POPPINS

-"Shall We Dance," "...Uncle Thomas", "March of Siamese Children" from THE KING AND I

"Shipoopi," "76 Trombones," and "Marian the Librarian" from THE MUSIC MAN

and more recently...

"You Can't Stop the Beat" from HAIRSPRAY. Every time I see John Travolta's segment, I die laughing.

I only discovered this number (from the 1943 B-picture CAROLINA BLUES starring Kay Kaiser and his band) this past spring. Introduced and concluded by Ann Miller, it features Harold Nicholas solo (I think Fayard was in the army). Excepting Annie's too-few numbers and this electrifying number, the film is unwatchably awful.

Agree with whoever mentioned the 2 scenes from West Side Story, and Kiss Me Kate.

Gregory Hines in Tap. Link is below. You have to wade through a lot of stuff to get to the part that I love, with Gregory and 3 other guys dancing on the sidewalk. That segment is only about 15 seconds. Everytime I see that, I feel cheated, I want more.
