I just remembered how in the movie Ursula becomes human as well. Do they do this in the show with Sherie? If so are there pics I can see of the HUMAN version that perhaps I have missed in my search?

"It means nothing to come and sit in a theater night after night and immerse yourself in fantasy, only then to walk out the door and be unchanged in reality. This show will live on in our hearts. But where it truly must survive is in our actions, our compassion and our generousity of spirit towards one another." - Adam Pascal on the closing of RENT

**Spoiler**

Yeah...I found it kind of odd at first. Ursula doesn't become human. She sends Flotsum and Jetsum to make sure that Prince Eric and Ariel don't fall in love/kiss. Then when Ariel's time on land is up Ursula shows up at the palace and takes Ariel back to the ocean. It is there that Ariel and Ursula have their face off and Ariel breaks Ursula's shell which kills her.

Ariel breaking Ursula's magic shell is one of the most amazing spectacles ever to grace a Broadway stage. How Sierra endures that effect night-after-night is simply astounding.

Only Disney could create that unique stage magic.

Brody, are you being sarcastic again? You know that hurts people.

Same here! I blinked and I must've missed something important cos one minute she was there, the next she was dead...or something. I wasn't too impressed with the show anyway - the actors are all great, but it's hard to get into the story when all I can think of is how weird or ugly the costumes are and watching to see if anyone falls on those stupid shoes with wheels.

Yeah, I'm surprised that Sierra can really manage to keep her arms moving for 3 hours. Nevermind the effects, because they're all lack lustre. It's disgustingly clear that there are 42 body doubles for her, so she doesn't do much as far as effects go. There are no effects- 637728 lighting effects make it look like there is more going on than there really is.

Anyone miss Beauty now?

There's a double for her "getting her legs" - a double "swims" up and Sierra rolls out over the waves from below the stage. There's also a double for both Ariel and Eric when he nearly drowns.

Hmm. Once I see it live in NY I'll decide if I think that's necessary...I'm not sold though. I don't mind doubles for stage effects (Phantom of the Opera, Beauty and the Beast).

there are more doubles than that. yes when eric drowns, it's a double, but sierra is the one rescuing him. when she get's legs, there are 2- one that swims and one that comes out of the waves (if you watch, just as soon as the bubble gets off stage, the double is rolling out already, plus we never see her face). and when ursula comes to get ariel on the 3rd day, the eels are holding a double who runs off eventually and then they push sierra back on. the double in this scene is at least 15 lbs heavier than sierra so it's clear haha.

Sure there are doubles, but people, it couldn't have been done without them! How would they have Sierra swim up to the top of the stage and still be able to come out on the bottom? The same goes for Eric's drowning. You can't expect the actors to be in two places at once!

I realize that some of you don't like the show, and I'm sorry you were disappointed (well only if you saw the show, I don't think people should judge the show solely on some pictures and a video), but I'm just tired of the fact that this topic and the new pictures topic have become Little Mermaid slam-fests! Some of us *do* like the show and it's a bit annoying to find some of the same people constantly slamming the show. You can criticize the show, but do it once. Not multiple times in every LMB thread. We get your point.

I don't have a problem with the doubles, and I understand they are needed. I was just answering the question as to when they're used...well, as well as I could answer it.

It's ok, it wasn't really directed at you. re: Little Mermaid Thought I just decided to direct my anger to this topic.
