NYC after Christmas but before New Years#1

I'm guessing that Dec 23-25th and Dec 30-Jan 1 are insanely busy, but some friends and I were thinking of visiting the city from the 26-29th of December in the period between the two holidays. In terms of both Broadway shows and just all attractions/restaurants/stores/sidewalks in general, will things still be insanely busy or is there a lull?

One of my favorite weeks in NY.

It's quiet on Christmas day, then gets crazier and crazier till New Year's Eve, which is a madhouse.

Then the hours of 2 AM to dawn after the New Year's Eve Celebrations are magical.

NYC right after New Year's is GREAT! Cheaper air and hotel rates. An empty city, and Christmas decorations still in tact. re: NYC after Christmas but before New Years
So, that was the Drowsy Chaperone. Oh, I love it so much. I know it's not a perfect show...but it does what a musical is supposed to do. It takes you to another world, and it gives you a little tune to carry with you in your head for when you're feeling blue. Ya know?

Eating in Chinatown at 3 am! I.E.: NY Noodletown ( the roast pig rocks !), after an evening of drinking.
