The problem would be going from animated to live. And it would be sort of odd to have a projection of animation for the first 12 minutes of a LIVE show. But what am I talking about, its Disney! They can figure anything out!

its Disney! They can figure anything out!

Not according to some of the people I know that have seen THE LITTLE MERMAID.
It does not need to be a Broadway show, let it be a great film, period. Its beauty is in how cinematic it is and how many films it quotes, sends up, and pays homage to. I would hate for it to be turned into a Broadway show.

I highly doubt a live production of this would ever exsist.

The whole concept of the film rests on the fact that it's mocking films through both film mediums - animated and live action. The transformation of animated characters in the streets of New York is virtually impossible on stage.

Its like many stage shows - they should simply remain on stage. Rent and Producers being prime examples.

This one should stay on film. It's perfectly adorable as is.

I would really like you to change your avatar. I keep looking at it and not reading the username and assuming I am reading a post by LizzieCurry. This predicament is usually amusing...always frightening. Do it now.

I found this "insider's guide" that listed all of the references there were to various Disney films in Enchanted.

Some were obvious, some not so much, others would have been impossible to notice without foreknowledge of them (is that a word?).

I wish I'd seen this list before seeing the film. For those who haven't seen it yet, and like have the "scoop" on things, you might enjoy it. There are a few minor spoilers, but nothing too major.

I found the movie adorable and "enchanting". I was surprisingly moved by sections of it and really enjoyed the songs. McDreamy was smokin and how talented is James Mardsen anyway?!
But the center of the film was Amy Adams' Giselle. She was so sincere and genuine. singing was nice too.
I loved the big Central Park number and wished that life were really like that. who couldn't use a big production number to brighten their dreary day?
Go see it. It's fun.

What exactly are you implying? And perhaps I'll change it soon because I guess that could be confusing and I have had it for a while.

You do know that the Producers was ORIGINALLY a film? re: Enchanted

Am I the only one who thought the score was LAUGHABLE and the storyline was lame?

Disney, who has more money than God, should have paid for an INTERESTING plot and QUALITY songs. I guess they spent their money for the film closing down New York to film, and not on the score and plot.

^^ I respect your opinion but you are in the VAST minority. Rottentomatoes.com has the movie at 93 percent from critics, 93 percent from users, and 90 percent from "Cream of the Crop" critics, which makes it by far one of the best reviews film of the year.

I am glad people are out there in the movie theatres enjoying a musical on the big screen, I just found it to be laughable.

I saw it with a 19 year old musical theatre student, her mother who is an avid theatre goer, and a 45 year old director. All 4 of us though it was "cute", but that it could have been much, much, much better.

they don't need an animated world it could be Fairy tale world Vs. real world.

i dont think that would work at all, they would just... live in fairy tale land? It was a good movie why can't we leave it be that way?

I was surprisingly impressed with this movie. James Marsden can sing? "That's Amore" from the movie was his vocals too. According to his bio, he's an accomplished singer. Amy Adams was perfectly cast for the role. She and James should try Broadway.

Again, Alan Menken delivered a classic and wonderful score perfectly suited for the theme of the movie. His "True Love's Kiss", although a few bars sound a bit like one of the songs from R&H's Cinderella, it was still oh-so melodically Disney. "Happy Working Song" is reminiscent of a Snow White song. This is one good holiday Disney movie I recommend.

I was surprised that Ms. Menzel didn't sing but, she looked different in this movie.

"James Marsden can sing?"
I thought he was great in Hairspray... You didn't see it, or you're being sarcastic?

"Menzel... looked different in this movie."
Not being painted green will do that. (I thought she looked as per usual, IMHO)

"they don't need an animated world it could be Fairy tale world Vs. real world."
I think it was more "Disney animated fairy world vs. real world" more than "fairy tale world vs. real world." 70-ish years of iconic works have earned them becoming a genre unto themselves...

I can totally see ENCHANTED being made into a Disney world theme park show. Like one of those 30-45 minute ones. They could get away with projection.

The show could just start off with an edited begining of the film projected on a scrim (like what they did with the Mermaid show at Disney world) then have the live show start in when the princess falls into NY.

Ehhh just a thought. But definatly not on Broadway.

jpbran - I seriously didn't know James can sing. I haven't seen Hairspray and before Enchanted, I've only seen James in Xmen.

As for Menzel...comparing to her Rent movie, her hair and make-up in Enchanted made her look odd. I was hoping she'd sing a song at least in her wedding scene.

I really enjoyed this movie. I thought it was completely endearing. Amy Adams was wonderful and her two suitors were charming. Am I the only one who found Idina kind of dull? I just thought she wasn't convincing as the girl who wanted the romantic stuff. Hmm...

I loved that there were three actual Disney princesses were in the movie: Jodi Benson, Paige O'Hara, and Judy Kuhn. They should have gotten Lea Salonga in there somewhere. That's two for the price of one.

Idina's voice wouldn't fit the movie... it's too... sharp? in tone... not pitch. With Amy and James' classic fairytale style musical voices... and I'm glad they used her as an actress, which is totally refreshing. I think she.. could have looked better... the final hair-do did nothing for those razor blade cheek and jaw bones of hers.. and her other two costumes were... average... I mean, come on people, she was a fashion designer in the movie... she should have been totally New York FIRECE to contrast with Giselle's look.

But... how cool was aminated Idina?

who else thought it was totally cool that WICKED and RENT billboards were predominantly featured together in one of the shots... two massively popular shows that she was an original cast member of. re: Enchanted
