I'm a fan of Prince's original direction, but I long for a new interpretation. (And that's how you rhyme.)
Salve, Regina, Mater misericordiae
Vita, dulcedo, et spes nostra
Salve, Salve Regina
Ad te clamamus exsules filii Eva
Ad te suspiramus, gementes et flentes
O clemens O pia
EVITA was given a new staging and choreography on the West End and it had a lukewarm reception and ended up flopping. Prince's staging seems to be the one that works best for this show.
"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"
The West End revival stunk worse than my ass! Surely, there must be another better way to envision this show.
Salve, Regina, Mater misericordiae
Vita, dulcedo, et spes nostra
Salve, Salve Regina
Ad te clamamus exsules filii Eva
Ad te suspiramus, gementes et flentes
O clemens O pia
You know, I want to say that I am all for new, fresh interpretations of musicals on stage and all, but at the same time, I've grown wary of a creative team that is too eager to renvision a show - it usually ends up being nowhere nearly as good as the original.
Of course, there are few exceptions, like the Chicago revival.
Prince's original, abstract, minimalist staging was simply genius. Why tamper with perfection? I did not see the London revival, but from what I have seen by way of video has left me less than impressed; the set and costumes seemed way too loud, gawdy, and distracting.

I'm seeing this in January! Very excited, I LOVE Evita but I have yet to see it live on stage. I'm a little disappointed it's non-equity, considering how challenging a show it is to produce. But I'm happy just to be seeing the Hal Prince production.
yea dave clemmons is casting it . so it shouldnt be a bad cast
"what? what is it? do i have something in my teeth? ok lets get this over with : no im not seasick, yes ive always been green, and no i didnt chew grass as a child "
her name is cameron wade, she didn't graduate from elon but did go there. she is fierce, i worked with her years ago at a little community theatre production of "joseph.."
...I liked Voytko. Maybe it's just b/c she was my first stage Eva and I have nothing but Patti's Tony performances to compare her to, but I thought she was very good.
Voytko sucked big titties! I hated the last production because of her.

Stage Manager... just how bad does your ass smell?
You made me laugh! Thanks for the happiness
"Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around."
appreciate the buisness that goes into casting a show do any of you know who dave clemmons is?
