Racist Blurb of the Day#1
Posted: 7/25/07 at 6:57pm
I work at a Dr's office and this woman calls, stating the following:

"Yes, I was in your clinic last week. There was an African American man, his wife, and their child. Needless to say, I've now contracted measles."

I thought I'd heard it all, but this one tops the cake. Racists are fun!

OK how is that racist? She was only stating facts. There were AA in the office and now she has measles.

Sounds like a prank call to me. She called, said that, and hung up?

Ouch. I'd consider the "needless to say" to be the racist part, Ivan!

Oh Suleen, why aren't you on Broadway?
I have NEVER met Cheyenne Jackson. I have never hung out with him in his dressing room, he did not tweet me, he never bought me a beverage, and he mostly certainly didn't tickle me. . .that is all.

"There was an African American man, his wife, and their child. Needless to say, I've now contracted measles."

Her apparent assertion is that by the very fact they were A-A, of course she now has measles. Pretty cut-and-dried.

It seems obvious that anyone could see that, so I can only conclude that the 'Ivan' caharacter is a creation?

Why do we have to spend the energy slogging through this type of inanity?

We have nothing better to do?
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

I just have NEVER understood this ridiculous compulsion to create alternative realities for this board. The potential for fun and/or discussion is so great, but so much energy gets wasted trying to deal with who is or who isn't real.

I'll respond to the 'Ivan' poster at face value, then - if you honestly believe that there's nothing inherently racist in her comment, then you are fairly disgusting yourself.

And honestly, it WOULD fit in with all the other nonsense that's been posted under a variety of names associated with the characature from Texas.

Which caricature comes from Texas that you speak of just to be better versed when opening these deceitful threads?

I cannot even begin to fathom why anyone would think this lady is in the right. She basically was saying that African-Americans spread measles. That is racist. Plain and simple.

And I can assure you, it was not a prank call.

"Which caricature comes from Texas"

I'm referring to the 'Captain Obvious' phenomenon, that has now gone through several permutations - and I have never cared enough to keep track of which was current. A couple of days ago, a couple showed up at the same time, and there was actually a little flurry to see which ended up being the real one. I guess this one won.

But who knows.
