The BWW Tech Support Thread |
Hi BroadwayConcierge!
Love this idea! Truly! I've gone ahead and subscribed to this thread so I'll get email alerts when/if anyone else replies here so we can keep track...
Good news! We've already fixed the sunglass emoji and quotes issue (we think) as a result of this post.
The 24th/25th post in a thread issue seems to be a bit more complicated so we're going to take some time to look into that - but I promise a solution is in the works and we'll update this thread once we've figured it out and tested to confirm a fix.
Thanks for bringing these issues to our attention. You can always shoot me an email to alan [at] broadwayworld [dot] com with any issues which is the best way to get in touch.
Alan, there's this too, which I didn't encounter as a problem until maybe a month ago:

Very often when I click on 'reply to this post' (on my android phone), the text box appears, but no cursor. Sometimes re-starting my phone 'fixes' it, but it is always teporary, and it doesn't always work. This is NOT the first time I've brought this issue up.
For the past week I haven’t had that part of the reply box that allows you to edit things or add a picture/link and every time I quote a reply weird symbols show surrounding the text.
While on the mobile site, the toolbar of editing options (italics, add a link, etc) for a post doesn't appear for me.

My hope is that the conversation doesn't steer into making broad, sweeping suggestions for the boards, but just day-to-day issues that arise as time goes on, such as the following:
- Would it be possible to enable people to write "8" and a closed parenthesis without turning into a cool-guy-with-sunglasses emoji?
- The subject line entry field seems to have issues with both single and double quotation marks. Single quotationmarks often appear as foreign characters on mobile, and using a double quotation mark often cuts off the rest of the characters entered in the subject line.
- The 24th and 25th posts on every thread areunseeableuntil enough posts are written that a new page on the thread is created, which is maybe not the best thing.
Sorry if these come off as nitpicky, but wanted to encourage user-friendliness on here!
None of these are "nitpicky" in my book; I've experienced all of them multiple times and they're extremely frustrating. Thanks! ![]()

I also can't create new threads, but I can (obviously) reply to them. Is it because I have adblockers? I can still see the silly sponsored stories on the right rail and top carousel, though.
It seems today that no newly-created threads are showing...it only displays a little gray box...

Whatever ad is in the middle of the page keeps causing the board to scroll all the way to the bottom, and then all the way to the top. It took me three tries just now just to get to this thread because it kept jumping back to the top of the board."
It's dreadful.

I can't add shows or performers to the "Favorites" list on my profile page. If they're not in the auto-generated list, the site displays a message indicating that "_____ has been added to your favorites", but nothing actually happens.

Also, the "related/trending articles" bar which shows up on the top (horizontally) and right (vertical) is irrelevant as heck. It's also often inappropriate because of the screenshots on these articles. Makes it very uncomfortable for me to browse in any public space. Can we please get rid of those?
When a quote from another user is included in a response to a thread, the site randomly removes the space between some words and/or punctuation in the quoted text, e.g., "I thought he was very good in the first act, but" might be quoted as "I thought he wasvery good in the first act, but".

Every time I try to look at this thread
https://www.broadwayworld.com/board/readmessage.php?page=197&thread=872593&dt=4911
It always shows up blank. This has been happening for a few months, but just seems to be me since people are still posting in it.
The same problem I posted about a couple of months ago is back. If I'm listening to music on my iPad and go to BWW the music shuts down. Can't this be fixed?

That's bizarre. What is the thread about?

I've been encountering an issue the past week or so. I have adblock on my computer, but it's disabled for Broadwayworld. Every time I restart my computer and come back to BWW, the website asks me to disable it or subscribe for 15 days access without ads.
It's always disabled on my end, and I can't get in without giving it my email address, which it already has, since I already have an account.
Any solutions to this? Thanks BWW!

That whole ad blocker/subscription popup is INCREDIBLY annoying. I'm fast reaching the point where I just won't read articles on BWW anymore.

As has been mentioned in the past on this board (thanks to whoever first figured it out), there's a manual workaround for the way in which a thread's 25th (or 50th, or 75th, etc) post is 'hidden' until the creation of another post or two triggers the generation of a full new page for the thread. If you adjust the thread's URL to insert 'page=2&' (or 'page=3&' etc) before the 'thread=' section, that 'hidden' new page and post will appear.
As an example (while it lasts without additional posts), I made a 25th post on the below thread, which the BWW site launches with this URL:
https://www.broadwayworld.com/board/readmessage.php?thread=1105823&dt
Currently, my post isn't appearing and there's no link to page 2, but when I manually adjust the URL like so:
https://www.broadwayworld.com/board/readmessage.php?page=2&thread=1105823&dt
...then I get to page 2 and can see my post.
When you create a bulleted list in the comment editor, the finished post only renders larger bold text instead of a bulleted list. Numbered lists are also larger bold text but at least the numbers show up. Confirmed in Chrome, Firefox, IE, Edge, Mobile Safari
- This is the first list item (bulleted)
- This is the second list item (bulleted)
- This is the first list item (numbered)
- This is the second list item (numbered)

I used to be able to paste a URL and have it automatically appear as a link on mobile, but it hasn’t done that for weeks now. It seems to only work on the desktop these days. Any way to get that ability back on mobile?

This is happening, still. And I can't reply to PMs. If I click the field, there's no option to start typing.
