I just saw this. Very odd. I mean he has a powerhouse voice. But I would like to hear him sing something a male would sing. He seemed to be imitating a black woman. Again, very odd. Over the top. If I had an chance to sing on the view like he did, I would not have sung that song. People in the audience didnt know what to make of it. Niether did my mother who I asked to watch it with me. Hmm.
I'm sure it was in his contract to sing that song since that is the reason why he was discovered from YouTube.
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

When is his voice going to change?
His rendition is no quirkier than Holliday's was on E! before the oscars...she's become a parody of herself.

"Carson has combined his passion for helping children with his love for one of Cincinnati's favorite past times - cornhole - to create a unique and exciting event perfect for a corporate outing, entertaining clients or family fun."

His lower range is really nice. If you search for him, uh, "there", there's a clip of him singing Phantom of the Opera (in full costume!) and Beauty and the Beast. I like it.
Am I the only one who didn't like it? I mean, I've seen the YT clips of him and varying other songs, and really, he's not that good. He's in falsetto way to much, he gets really nasal on his E's, and never seems to put his own voice into anything, just a re-creation of the originals.
That's just me though.

Me too. First of all, he's a freak. Listen to him talk and you'll know why he can sing like that. Even if it wasn't freaky sounding, it's really shrill and crazy. I for one do not think that "high notes" are the only thing that make an "impressive" singer.
Its not falsetto. Its a mix. Really no different than marty thomas or anyone else who has a very high voice. I prefer his version compared to marty's i think. Also, Some of those high notes he is doing with chest voice. I like him. He is flying and all we can do is comment on how well. looks good von!

To be fair, men don't really have a "mix". What he is using is indeed falsetto, which most people confuse with head voice. A developed falsetto sounds chesty and nearly belted--"mixy" if you will, while a head voice is more breathy. Most people call their head voice their falsetto and that is incorrect.
He has an excellent voice. Very unique.
He will not have a voice at all in 5 - 10 years if he continues to sing like that.

Just wierd. He belongs in Drag at a Gay Bar in Vegas.
...and just what is wrong with being a drag queen?
"Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around."

- Nothing is wrong with that. Certainly not a career I aspire to though. I don't think a lot do.
Anyway, he even sang "you're the best man...." it makes it even gay. Why not change it to "best girl"?

AMAZING!!!!!!
Was he on the View?

I agree with you, courtnyj. He does have a nice lower range, but most of his upper range, while impressive, isn't very pleasing to the ear. There's one youtube video where he's "goofing around" and it's exactly the same as when he performs.
"In theater, the process of it is the experience. Everyone goes through the process, and everyone has the experience together. It doesn't last - only in people's memories and in their hearts. That's the beauty and sadness of it. But that's life - beauty and the sadness. And that is why theater is life." - Sherie Rene Scott

Who cares? He's not singing the song to act it, much less in the context of the show. It is only a freak show to show his range so what matter do the words coming out of his mouth carry?
I've always been bothered with people that giggle or look down on men (or women for that matter) that sing songs written for the opposite sex without changing lyrics. Who cares? It's not gay--it is in fact possible for a man to emote and tell the story as a woman character without singing in his falsetto or dressing in drag and *most importantly* a man singing as a woman does NOT have to be a joke as many immature audience members in my experience have tended to assume.
Regardless, on the YouTube video he actuallys "I'm the best man you'll ever know." Lyric changes like this are more awkward than just singing the damn song as it was written, in my opinion.

Why do you assume we all know what AIATY is?
