Tina Fey: She's a piece of ****. The people at SNL were like maybe she'll be fun, maybe she won't take herself so seriously. She takes herself so seriously! She's unbelievably dumb and so proud of how dumb she is. She looks like a tranny up close.
Howard Stern: Was she bad on SNL, was she hard to deal with?
Tina Fey: She was awful. People never come in and say "I'm not doing that." So, this guy Jim Downey wrote a really really funny sketch, it was supposed to be Lorne Michaels just finding out that she had a sex tape and telling her she couldn't host the show because SNL has standards... So she was like "I'm not doing it!" and refused to come out of her dressing room. Also, you would walk down the hall and find what just looked like nasty wads of Barbie hair on the stairs... Her hair is like a Fraggle.
Howard Stern: Did she give you ideas for sketches?
Tina Fey: Yeah, she wanted to make fun of all the girls she hates. She was like "I want to play Jessica Simpson, I hate her." She would come in the room and say "you should do a show about Jessica Simpson because she's fat."
Howard Stern: What was the bet you guys had going about her?
Tina Fey: The cast had a bet if she would ask anyone on the cast anything about themselves, you know like how are you? where are you from? anything. I think Seth Meyers won because at one point, she asked him if Maya Rudolf was Italian.

More power to Tina! I had loved her for many years on SNL. SNL just isn't that same without her and Rachel Dratch(I miss Debbie Downer). Updated On: 11/17/06 at 09:16 PM
THat is pure awesome. I bet it's all true, too. I still lack an understanding of how Paris Hilton has "fans" but since she does we all know they'll be in an uproar about it.

THANK YOU TINA FEY!!! I love her and someone had to say Paris is a piece of ****!
You go Tina!

You know, I love Tina, I've seen her perform live and she's great. I miss her on SNL and I think "30 Rock" is a good sitcom in a world that has very few of those.
Having said that, is she telling us anything we don't already know about Paris Hilton, and that hasn't already been said about her by a lot of other media people? And it's not as if the show for which Tina was the head writer when Hilton hosted didn't ASK her to do so. Or are we to assume she just flounced in past the velvet rope with her teeny tiny dog and took roost for a week because she's rich?
Now, I love finding out that b-list women celebs have major anti-women streaks like Hilton revealed with her "I hate her" schtick. But it's a little off when these details are also coming from a woman who is trashing the woman in question who trashed other women.
Hilton was actually pretty game, if what I remember of her performance is accurate, so I guess the genius writers of SNL were able to help her rise to their always-consistent level of brilliance. Or something.
And why is the "nightmare celeb" story template for all SNL dish centered on "Xxx refused to come out of the dressing room." That tale goes all the way back to Louise Lasser's hosting, and say what you will about Hilton, but she was better that Lasser.
I'm not really sure what's surprising, awesome or amazing by what Fey had to say... but what do I know from reading this thread?
Every time I see 30 ROCK in print, I think 3RD ROCK (as in ... FROM THE SUN).
That is all.

She was just answering Howards question. I don't think she went on specifically to trash Paris.

>Having said that, is she telling us anything we don't already know about Paris Hilton, and that hasn't already been said about her by a lot of other media people?
I think people definitely trash Paris Hilton, but I'm not sure if I've seen that many people actually specificly describe the things that make her annoying or troubling as a person with influence in the public eye.
>But it's a little off when these details are also coming from a woman who is trashing the woman in question who trashed other women.
I don't really understand what you're saying here. She's an intelligent woman trashing a not so intelligent woman for celebrating her lack of intelligence. Is that a horrible thing?
I guess she could try to help her become smarter, but it seems like that might be a lost cause.
>Hilton was actually pretty game, if what I remember of her performance is accurate, so I guess the genius writers of SNL were able to help her rise to their always-consistent level of brilliance. Or something.
I didn't think she did too good of a job, personally. There were parts where she was funny, but overall she was boring and one-note to me.

Gotta agree with Namo here. Reading that made me uncomfortable, and I'm a Fey fan.
As far as her performance, I don't remember much about when Hilton hosted, but her earlier appearance on the Weekend Update segment was hysterical - she was definitely "game" and did a great job.
