I'm supposed to be doing a report on a song and I was just wondering what you all think is the saddest, most depressing, all hope is lost, Broadway song? Thanks for the help you guys!
I am a bagel on a plateful of onion rolls. If you know what I'm talking about, good. If you don't, you're on your own!

ATTENTION FANS: I will be played by James Barbour in the upcoming musical, "BroadwayWorld: The Musical."
To me, "I'll Cover You - Reprise" from Rent always gets me. But I don't know if it'd be as moving if you never saw the visual (play or movie), but I always tear up!
BroadwayBoobs: I'll give all of you who weren't there a hint of who took the pictures ...it rhymes with shameless
Grey Gardens is new, but I'd say "Winter In A Summer Town"
...What happened next, was stranger still, a woman breathless and afraid, appeared out of the night, completely dressed in white. She had a secret she would tell, of one who had mistreated her. Her face and frightened gaze, my mind cannot erase...But then she ran from view. She looked so much like you...
uhm i think tht come what may from the movie Moulin Rouge...it always gets me when i watch it=]
*Feel like going insane?
Got a fire in your brain?

I'm through accepting limits
'Cuz someone says they're so
Some things I cannot change
But till I try, I'll never know!
Too long I've been afraid of
Losing love I guess I've lost
Well, if that's love
It comes at much too high a cost!
I'd sooner buy
Defying gravity
Kiss me goodbye
I'm defying gravity
And you can't pull me down
Til We Reach That Day - Ragtime At the Glen - Dessa Rose

Oh, also that song from Lestat, which I think is called "So Far Yet Just A Breath Away." I hope I got that right. Hugh Panaro sang it very emotionally. Elton John should release the recording. Maybe it will recoup some of his losses from the show.

"I have also met him in person, and I find him to be quite funny actually. Arrogant and often misinformed, but still funny."
-bjh2114 (on Michael Riedel)
The lyrics may not sound sad but the staging and the sequence on when the song was sung made this one the saddest for me - Sun and Moon Reprise - Miss Saigon
The other contenders: On My Own - Les Miserables I Dreamed A Dream - Les Miserables Love Look Away - Flower Drum Song When October Goes - (can't rem. this Manilow musical project) I'd Give My Life For You - Miss Saigon If I Loved You - Carousel I Don't Care Much - Cabaret Sacred Bird - Miss Saigon Little God Of My Heart - Miss Saigon Finale - Miss Saigon We Kiss In The Shadow - King and I Where Is Love? - Oliver! Lord and Master - King and I What About Love? - The Color Purple
