"...At the center of the production's success is Broadway veteran Max von Essen, who is just about ideal as Tony: youthful, impetuous, idealistic and convincingly lovestruck. He possesses a smooth, clean, supple yet powerful tenor that makes the most of such great songs as Something's Coming, Maria and Somewhere."

Nice to hear. Max does seem like a pretty perfect choice for Tony -- unless Michael Arden is available. re: WEST SIDE STORY Remains A Powerhouse

Of course, I loved that write-up. Totally agree about everything said about WSS.

And good for Max. Tony is written in a way that the actor often gets overshadowed by the rest, so that says a lot for Max to be singled out.

So, who wants to help fly me to Texas? re: WEST SIDE STORY Remains A Powerhouse

"If there was a Mount Rushmore for Broadway scores, "West Side Story" would be front and center. It snaps, it crackles it pops! It surges with a roar, its energy and sheer life undiminished by the years" - NYPost reviewer Elisabeth Vincentelli
