I was wondering if anyone has seen Spamalot in Toronto and if they have how was it. I have tickets and I am curious about the cast etc.
Thanks in advance.

I saw it earlier this month and it was great! The cast overall was really talented and funny. During one of the scenes there was a costume malfunction and the cast recovered really well. The only cast member I didn't like was Pia Glenn as the Lady of The Lake. When she sang it sounded like she was holding back or something, maybe she was just having an off day though. Anyways I think you'll have a great time. Enjoy the show!

It's pretty close to what is on Broadway. It doesn't quite have the star power of the original Broadway cast, but the show doesn't really need it. Michael Siberry is a great KIng Arthur. Its been doing quite well after getting excellent reviews. IN fact I have friends going to see it tonight.

Go. Enjoy.

I agree I saw it and I really enjoyed the show and the cast was very funny but I wasn't really happy with Pia as The Lady of the Lake... I think one of the problems was i listen to Sara Ramirez on the Original Broadway Cast Recording before i went to the show and she's amazing... and actually when i went there was a malfunction one of the unbrellas wouldn't open my mom (who i saw it with) didn't notice so they covered it well

Do people not care for Pia only because they enjoy Sara's powerhouse voice? I saw Pia on the tour and thought she did a fine job. Maybe she wasn't on par vocally with Sara but her acting was great; she was hilarious. And I did happen to enjoy her voice.

I think too many people expect the Pia (or any other actress) to have the same vocals as Sara and give a carbon copy of her Lady of the Lake performance, which is why many people don't like Lauren Kennedy.

It's not that I didn't like her because she didn't sound the same as Sara, It's that I just didn't enjoy her as the Lady of the Lake overall she was funny acting but not as good sing

My sister and her friends actually went to Canada on a roadtrip, three of her friends that went never saw Spamelot, so they saw it in Toronto. It was my sisters third time seeing Spamelot! She said it wasn't the same without Hank and David, but she said it was great otherwise!

Add me to the list of people that didn't like Pia. I didn't think she was strong enough vocally for what I expected for the role. And yes I expected a Sara worthy performance. Pia couldn't even hold the end note in Diva's Lament. Very disappointing.

well, my friends saw SPAMALOT in Toronto and loved it, and thought it was hilarious
they thought Pia was very good, but never saw Sara so couldnt compare
i personally think Pia looks very good for the role, but who knows...never heard her do it
enjoy the show when you see it!

My problem with Pia is that her belt isn't very good, and she doesn't use it a lot. The end of Diva's Lament is very unimpressive - I saw it twice in Boston, and the first time, she hit a sort of glory note at the end of Diva's Lament, I think it was a high G. It was very different from how the ending is originally. The second time I saw it, she just hit a middle G, or something like that. The last "part, my part" was all middle G. It sounded so...blah.

Her head voice is great, though.

I saw the tour in Chicago and pretty much fell in love with the cast. David Turner is the best part. He is FANTASTIC and not to mention adorable and talented. I can't rave about him enough.

I loved Pia Glenn... but her vibrato is what drove me insane. It started out right after the note, instead of gradually going into it. But she was hilarious, and beautiful.

and as for the end of Diva's Lament, I think they wanted to switch up the ending. Because I also saw Pia's understudy and they pretty much did the same thing. They went low first, then went up to the regular note, or something like that.

Yeah! I really didn't like Pia either! Not good enough vocally. And to respond to the Sara Ramirez comparison, I didn't listen to the OCR until after I'd seen it. But otherwise, I totally LOVED the show. Now I see what all the fuss was (is?) about. I'm going again in early September.

I saw it 3 weeks ago. I enjoyed it, but I saw the OBC last year, so although I thought this cast did a wonderful job, it didn't compare for me. However, the people I know who did not see it in NYC all thought it was amazing. Some went back to see it again.

I personally liked Pia, but she didn't quite reach Sara level.
