Hi, I am going to NYC next week and I was wondering if there were any restaurants that are sort of Broadway themed, or play Broadway music? Updated On: 8/4/06 at 04:00 PM

Whatever you do, I hope you have a great audition. That song is one of my favorites from the show.

I've never been a fan of karoke use at auditions. I'd sing it a cappella if you can.

(I think it's weird they don't have someone to play the music. They won't use a real orchestra will they?)

I also think it's very strange that there isn't someone available to play the piano for me. I just think that particular song might sound sort of weird and all over the place a capella.

okay, I had accidently posted my "please help" message twice, and I couldn't figure out how to delete it so I changed it to the restaurant question, but obviously I did something wrong...

Hmm... I think the original poster got his/her first question answered, and then didn't want to start a new thread before asking another question. Good intention, but you CAN start a new thread. re: please help!

And no, I haven't seen any Broadway-themed restaurants, aside from Sardi's, which isn't even all that Broadway-themed anyway. I hear Olive Garden is getting a new Spelling Bee re-dedication, though...

Go to the Edison Cafe. It's one of the few authentic old New York places in the theater district. You may even see some Broadway people eating there.

Tony DiNapoli is kind of broadway themed with the paintings of different Broadway Stars.

Im pretty sure The Stardust Diner sings Broadway showtunes.

Joe Allen's on 46th between 8th and 9th Avenues has the wall with posters from many Broadway flops and I believe there are still a couple of theme bars called Jekyll and Hyde.

If you go to either of the two Applebees in Times Square (42nd & 8th and 50th & Broadway), they are covered with posters and pictures and the like of Broadway shows.

I've heard good things about the Edison but I've never actually been. How are the prices there?

"I've heard good things about the Edison but I've never actually been. How are the prices there?"

It's diner prices. Burgers are $8-10; full meals are around $10-12. Of course, you can get cheaper things like a bowl of soup and grilled cheese, etc.

Take a look at their menu in the link below.

Stardust Diner is the only place I can think of. It's in the middle of Times Square, and the waitors are aspiring Broadway performers who sing between waiting tables. I thought it was cute, my waitor was absolutley amazing and I basically talked to him about what shows he'd auditioned for and he was incredibly nice.

Ellen's Stardust diner on Bway and 51st has singing waiters. They sing a bunch of showtunes. The people in there are very friendly and the atmosphere is nice.

Tony DiNapoli's is great! Good food, lots of fun and beautiful paintings of Broadway stars. Ask for Drew to be your waiter re: please help!

Sardi's still reigns re: please help!

Angus McGindoe's is owned by Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick and is right next door to the St James Theatre which houses THE PRODUCERS.

Joe Allens is fun.

Ellen's Stardust Diner is a great place to eat!! I mean, some people find it annoying that the waiters come up to them and sin while they eat. I personally think it's a nice touch. They're so friendly and they work their butts off to entertain you. The food is great and the entertainment is fun. They sing Disney songs, Broadway show tunes, and stuff from the 50's. Good fun for all!

DO NOT GO TO APPLEBEES OR OLIVE GARDEN!!!!

New York has some ofthe best restaurants in the world. It is ridiculous to go to a place that is avalable everywhere in the US. Look for hole in the wall places. Often those are the places you'll enjoy the most. Don't just go somewhere because it is somewhat "broadway-themed"

I went to NYC for the first time this week. I saw RENT and Hairspray...and now I'm remembering how much I love plays and I think I am about to be addicted!!

After Hairspray, I went to the Stardust Diner because it was reccommended to me by my cousin. It was fun...all the waiters sing as they are serving you, and my waiter made be get up and dance with him infront of the restaurant, haha. It's a fun environment.

Sound like fun to me! Exactly which of the seven deadly sins do they do? re: please help!

If you go to Ellen's Stardust Diner, make sure that for the next two hours you are very close to a bathroom. You've been warned.
