Here's the deal, I wasn't able to go see Kismet on Sunday much to my regret due to the storm. City Centers is so nice that they aren't giving refunds but a chance to exchange the ticket for another performance. I have a general knowledge about Of thee I sing but no knowledge what-so-ever about 70 Girls 70. I'm leaning towards Of Thee...due to Victor Garber but would like informed opinions. Thanks!
First, sorry you missed Kismet! It was quite good, although not my favorite Encores production. I adored Brian Stokes Mitchell and Marin Mazzie. I'm going to see both 70 Girls 70 and Of Thee I Sing, and I'm far more excited for 70 Girls 70. It is a Kander and Ebb gem that flopped at the Broadhurst in 1971. The score includes Coffee in a Cardboard cup, which is well- known and also appears in And the World Goes Round. But there are other great numbers too (my personal favorite being The Caper). The plot... well, it has to do with a group of friends at a retirement home that start a crime ring. Maybe you could try to get your hands on some of the music of each before you decide? Good luck!
