How I love this man's work. One of my dreams is to perform all the works in his canon, except for perhaps The Lady in Question, which I just couldn't get into. Frankly, if I could just have a career like his, I'd be a happy man.

My personal favorite is Red Scare on Sunset, which manages to lampoon both the McCarthy Era and method acting in one hilarious swoop.

Anyone else a fan?

Oh Yes! My only regret is that I didn't discover his talent until this past year!! Thank heaven for the release of a couple of his DVDs, and I just saw a copy of his Dames at Sea. I hope and pray he comes out with another show so I can finally see and experience him LIVE!

Fabulously talented.

I had the pleasure of working with him briefly, and it was inspiring and FUN!

Such a talented man. He was also great in his role as a death row prisoner in the tv series Oz.

i love him. marvelously theatrical and i hope for a new piece from him soon. i hope he hasn't abandoned his oevre to become a mere drag queen (doing auntie mame over and over) i have enjoyed him tremendously over the years. also, he is the perfect foil for my idol, julie halston, another miracle of self-creation.

The original production of Lady in Question was quite great. If you're going to do the canon, you have to do that. You'll probably discover wonderful things in it!.

I love him too.

THE LADY IN QUESTION is my favorite Charles Busch play. It like the most brilliant of the Carol Burnett movie parodies - I'd love to know if Burnett ever saw it.

Of course, what I'd love to see is Carol, Lily Tomlin and Charles in a remake of CAGED DAMES.

Charles is also a total sweetie pie.

A friend of mine starred in Lady in Question a few years ago and it's surely one of Busch's funniest plays. It's highly stylized, but if a production nails the 40s melodramatic aspects (and my friend's did -- he got more laughs than Busch did in the original), it's a non-stop laugh riot.

My life was forever changed when I saw a terrific production of Psycho Beach Party when I was 16. I've been dying to direct it ever since.

I'm a big fan of his:

His performance last year was one of the funniest nights in comedy history. I laughed so hard I thought I would need medical assistance.

Well, with the kudos it's receiving on here, it's clear I've got to revisit The Lady in Question. Perhaps it just doesn't read well. I will return to it soon with an open mind.

Mary Dale in Sunset is still the crown jewel of Busch roles, in my opinion.

Die Mommie Die is hysterical. I love the opening sequence where Angela Arden is "singing" "Why Not Me?" on television.

I loved Die Mommie Die too. That line about his son being found in an orgy being spun around on the lazy susan was a highlight.

LOL, she is a total diva, so classy...even though the low budget of the movie.

I think it's low-budget actually works for it. When you've got Busch sashaying around as 60s diva, the low budget just makes him look better. I may have to watch that today.

Kringas - make sure you check out the new documentary on his life - "The Lady in Question is Charles Busch". It is absolutely fascinating. There is so much history there - and he hides nothing.

Cheeze, I definitely want to see that. I'm pretty sure it won't play anywhere around here, though. We did get Psycho Beach Party and Die Mommie Die at our art house-ish cinema, so perhaps this will make it here as well.

i can't wait to see this movie!!! i love Charles and Lauren!!! Charles is a real diva. I wanted to go see him and Chris Sieber host the HX awards...Charles claimed she wanted to show em Diva, she intended to wear a different gown every time she walked in and out of the stage. She is fabulous. But i had tickets to see Kathy Griffin at Town Hall that same night.

It's ironic that you missed Charles Busch because you had to go to Town Hall. Monday night you could have gone to Town Hall and seen Charles Busch (as Miriam Passman). He/she was a presenter at the Nightlife Awards. Miriam was, of course, hilarious. He was part of an amazing show. I can't remember the last time I saw so much talent on one stage -- that entertained!
