Stephen really does have a great voice. And "It's Your Wedding Day" made me want to get up and dance - haha! I'm really looking forward to the cast recording.
I can't wait to hear more songs from this. It'll be so long until a cast recording comes out though. And based on what I've heard I'll definitley want it. I really really want to hear the demo.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.
OMG I love Stephen Lynch soo much!! That song was so fun and catchy and 80's i love it....broadway: Stephen Lynch is gonna rock ur socks! Wow i'm pumped for this!
RIP Natasha Richardson. ~You were a light on this earth ~
I know BroadwayChica....i sh*t my pants w/ joy when i saw he was doing it way back when it was announced...he's awesome and as a fan of his comedey for the longest time...i've seen him in concert and he has soo much charisma...he rules!
RIP Natasha Richardson. ~You were a light on this earth ~
I'm not a fan of Steven Lynch as a comedian (I'm not a fan of any comedian who does jokey songs), but I think he's PERFECT as a musical theater actor. He has the voice, the looks, the charisma, and the talent to make it big. And "Wedding Singer" is THE perfect vehicle to launch his Broadway/Theater career.
I must be the only one who is :1) not interested in another cliche movie adaptation and 2) "I wanna grow old with you" song. I enjoyed the movie very much and the song in teh movie but it doesn't scream BROADWAY MUSICAL HIT to me. Anyways, to each his/her own.
Yeah i'm not a huge fan of the Movie to stage comparison...but this seems different and not just b/c it has the awesome stephen lynch and also this one seems really faithful to making it a fun throwback to the eighties...ala Hairspray to the sixties...not saying its anything like hairspray...but it should be a whole lot of fun.
RIP Natasha Richardson. ~You were a light on this earth ~
I wish they'd expanded "I Want To Grow Old With You" so it was more...impressive. I mean, if Adam Sandler can sing it well then someone's vocal chops are not being tested.
"It's not always about you!!!" (But if you think I'm referring to you anyway, then I probably am.)
"Good luck returning my ass!" - Wilhemina Slater
"This is my breakfast, lunch and f***ing dinner right here. I'm not even f***in' joking." - Colin Farrell
Do all love ballads need to test a singer's range? I think the version of the song in the show will serve the same purpose as the movie: kind of a cute way for the Robbie character to express his love for Julia. If you've heard Stephen sing on his CDs or in person, you know he obviously has the voice to belt anything they may throw at him.
Like someone else said, I hope that they also kept the "I Want to Die" song as well. Would love to hear Stephen sing that!
