I am actually going to town to meet a girl ... yes creapy i know.
So i figured what the heck even if i hate her i'll go see a show or two. (ala my other thread)
I've seen rent,spam,wick,drs,sweeney,piazza
So i was thinking mamma mia, avenue q, woman in white, or lion king or a combination of 2 of those 3. Kind of thought of doubt, but i saw the preview and quite honestly didnt do much for me.
go see the Bee. it is a great date show. wonderful inside jokes that you can share with eachother. and if it doesn't work out, at least the show will have been great.
"I'm an American, Damnit!!! And if it's three things I don't believe in, it's quitting and math."
See Spelling Bee. I agree with Pippin. It is a really fun and funny show. I am taking my best friend to see it in June when we are in NYC. Am hoping they do a few more Blue Nights around that time. I would like to see one of those performances!
If you can get tickets, I'd say go see Jersey Boys w/the girl. If the date goes well, you guys can look back at a great show with some great love songs (John Lloyd Young singing "Can't Take My Eyes Off You", for example is amazing!)The show ROCKS & it's a lot of fun, too! So that you can show her your "sensitive side," the show has a few heart wrenching moments, too.
And--if you don't hit it off with this girl, at least you will see a great show! IMHO, Jersey Boys is your best bet!!
THE WOMAN IN WHITE beckons - with its romantic score! The sets are cool You and your date might enjoy the beautiful and stunning images which move effectively with the pace/details of the plot.
I would stay away from Disney musicals for a date. Yes Lion King is visually amazing, but in the end it is a kids show. All those yelling screaming kids might not creat the ideal date atmosphere. You can never fail with a comedy on a date. I would suggest Bee or Avenue Q. Good luck on your date!
(Martha Graham from a letter to Agnes de Mille) "There is a vitality, a life force, a quickening That is translated through you into action, And because there is only one of you in all time, This expression is unique. If you block it, It will never exist through any other medium And be lost. The world will never have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is, Nor how valuable it is, Nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours, clearly and directly, To keep the channel open. You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work. You have to keep open and aware Directly to the urges that motivate you. Keep the channel open. No artist is pleased. There is no satisfaction whatever at any time. There is only a queer, divine dissatisfaction, A blessed unrest that keeps us marching And makes us more alive than others."
You havn't seen Wicked until you have seen it with Eden.
"I never had theatre producers run after me. Some people want to make more Broadway shows out of movies. But Elliot and I aren't going to do Batman: The Musical." - Julie Taymor 1999
Wicked, unless you try the lottery, might be hard to get tickets to.
