Rosario, IMO, a very strong actress. She clearly didn't have the best singing voice out of the cast, but her vocals did the trick and I don't know how exactly to describe it, but whatever she brought to the role was just right. I do know what you mean by Out Tonight, but I blame it on the staging choices, and how the scene was done.
As for Ms. Menzel...the weakest link? Oddly enough, Rosario's little strip tease didn't do it for some guys when I was at the theater. The guy sitting next to be couldn't have been more turned on by any other part of the movie than Idina during TMOLM. *swoons* Idinaaaaa!
There was no weakest link...not even Mr. Columbus.
This thread should be titled: Chris Columbus...THe Weakest Link.

I personally thought Rosario was the strongest link in the movie! I think she nailed the part; she really gave it her own interpretation. Her singing voice was FINE! I doubt she'll be on Broadway anytime soon singing 8 shows a week, but in this movie her singing voice is more than adequate!
I think that says alot about her performance considering how nervous I was about her taking on the role and how much I love Daphne! Personally, I can see Rosario getting a Golden Globe nomination. I think that's where she's most likely to be recognized.

I thought Rosario was great! Her acting was wonderful, especially in WIthout You. Sure shes not as trained vocally as all the others, but shes still a great singer. Her voice worked for Mimi I think. She just interpreted the role a bit different than Daphne from what I hear (never saw Daphne) but I still thought Rosario was one of the best if not THE best in the film.

If Rubin Vega was in the film, everyone would have thought Mimi was 40, not 19. No offense to her, but of all the cast, she's aged the most. Dawson was a great choice. A semi-name, giving a great performance. I thought she grounded the film.

I thought some of her facial expressions were over the top (Another Day particularly, which in general wasn't the greatest scene in the movie). She ran hot and cold with me in the movie, which may have more to do with the direction than with her. I thought the character of Mimi (and most of the characters) could've made a stronger impact, maybe with more dialogue.

I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter
i think the movie is a master piece...i am telling everyone how amazing it was...i wanna see it again....and i hate going to the movies...i like live theatre only...but...RENT was awesome....i think Rosario was great...but yeah! she was the weakest performer in the cast...that is all i said....i think Mya Harrison would have been better...but probably Rosario would have been in my top 5 of-famous- actresses who can play it. And yes...Daphne was pregnant she couldn't have played the role.

no, babi, I don't feel that I am waisting (sic) my breath by telling people to post respectfully on BWW. Maybe YOU don't mind it when people are rude in this community, but I do.
And, muscle, it's you who just doesn't get it. How would you feel if I started a thread trashing any of the people you adore in your fan photos? How would you feel if you were Rosario?
I'm just asking people to be respectful when they post a criticism. Calling someone the Weakest Link is an insult thanks to the game show.
The thing is that i am not saying anything bad about her...that is what u dont get. I think she was good, but im sure Rosario herself knows that she is doesn't have the Broadway training of doing RENT over and over like Idina Menzel or Jesse or Anthony.

My problem is the title of the thread. And that you started a thread to discuss her flaws only to back pedal and say she wasn't so bad. Why did you start the thread to begin with?
I prob wouldn't be making this such a big deal, but it comes so close after your now deleted thread on Most Untalented Performers.
and for the record...my thread doesn't say anything offensive...and feel free to say whatever u want about the artists i admire...because when you are an artist you are putting yourself out there and people are going to like you and some others will hate you. It's inevitable. And it's fantastic that we all have different opinions.

And we in the BWW community can rise above cattiness and bitchiness by posting respectful criticisms. I know it's "cute" and "fun" to post something really "bitchy" but this is a PUBLIC forum. Things get back to performers and/or their families. Save the "wit" for private conversations.
I thought Rosario did an excellent job. IMO the actor who played Angel was probably the weakest vocally and just in general I found him kinda irritating. Just funny note about Idina Menzel who I thought was fine although her tango was rather weak, the guys behind me yelled "eiw look at her arms" during Over The Moon, and I couldn't blame them, they were quite large. lol. anyways fun experience but i was very disappointed in the film.
