Although Shoshana sang a different role/song at our workshop, the song Ms. Bean sang at that cabaret is sung by the character "Brenda" in the show. For those who saw the movie, Brenda is the nurse Frank falls in love with and almost marries. The song "FLY, FLY AWAY" is sung after Frank escapes when the FBI closes in on him at their engagement party. That role has been played at readings and the workshop by both Celia Keenan-Bolger and Annaleigh Ashford.
There will be another workshop or reading this year before we begin the actual "production". Only then will we begin actually casting the show.
Rest assured that as soon as there is an actual cast, you guys will be the first to know!

Posted: 10/28/07 at 11:47pmI think Nathan would most definitely do this show. What else would he be doing? He hasn't done a musical since The Producers and we all know he loves musicals. His large salary can be made up in no time, but they may have to substitute some lesser names for the rest of the cast to save some $$. McNally will certainly want Lane in there since he loves his work. Nathan isn't getting any younger and there won't be many quality musicals that he will be able to star in. He can always do drama or comedy in the future, but musicals are tough as you get older. He'll be there!!
The only review of a show that matters is your own.

And Marc just to high jack for a moment, saw Hairspray again on sunday and nearly 5 weeks or so after the release here in Australia, the screening was sold out.
Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist.
Every full moon he sacrifices 4 puppies to the Dark Lord and smears their blood on his paino.
This should help you understand the score for Wicked a little bit more.

Posted: 10/29/07 at 12:40amNathan has consistently stayed with this show, so I too would assume he will stay with it. He would not do this show for money or because there has been a lack of juicy roles for him. He has done a show nearly every season for the past few years. Neil Simon, David Mamet, Terrance McNally, and Stephen Sondheim have all had him star in some of their shows over the past 5 years.

A little bird (JM) told me today that the whole creative team will be in lockdown mode starting november 13th--In order to plow through details for the show.
He confirmed that as of now the show is being written with Nathan Lane, Louise Pitre, and Tom wopat in mind.

Posted: 11/26/07 at 7:56pmI am really hoping that Christian Borle goes forward with this project. His boyish charm and pipes of steel are perfect for this role. I think that his experience with Jerry Mitchell would also be helpful.
