Okay, since they are turning every movie into a musical. I think it's about time they started turning tv shows into musicals. So, what shows do you think could be a good musical? I think Golden Girls and Fresh Prince of Bel-Air have the potential to be great musicals.
While I don't think I really want to see TV shows turned into musicals, some possibilities come to mind: Frazier Cheers Oh yeah, how about Law & Order? most of the cast is already here anyway.lol! Actually, pretty much the same can be said of Frazier.
"And the postman sighed as he scratched his head, you really rather thought she ought to be dead..."
NO, FOAnatic I am not kidding. If you really pay attention to the show then you can see that the storylines and the characters are very similar to theatre plots and characters. I'd give Will rap songs, but everybody else would sing. It would open with the Fresh Prince theme song, in a very similar fashion to Hairsprays Good Morning Baltimore. Uncle Phil would have a "proud fat man" solo. Aunt Viv would have a letting loose number since she's a professor who used to be a dancer. Hilary, the weathergirl, would sing a song about clothes and money. Carlton, would have a song about republicans, Princeton, and Tom Jones, and yes we would include the infamous "Carlton Dance". While Ashley would be the younger 13 yr old and would have a song about not being a kid anymor. As far as story goes we would mix stories, such as Uncle Phils running for Judge, his opponent would be the villian of the show, Aunt Viv's 40th b-day, Ashley's first date, Hilary getting her job as weathergirl, Carlton learning to live without Princeton, and Will would obviously adjust and fall in love. I don't know if this helps at all but if you could see what I picture in my head then I think you would like it.
Oh my God... Lost as a musical... I would die. DIE.
"The stage is where I live and come alive and act out all the things that go on in my life. It's not just what I do for a living, it's my shrink and my love affair. No one in my life has ever or ever will kiss me on the mouth like this lover called my relationship with my performance."
They DID do something based on The Golden Girls. It was a production a year or two ago and it was at "Rose's Turn." I never did get a chance to see it. I don't know if it was a musical or a play?
Desperate Housewives the musical! It can be all Sondheim. :)
"It's the little things; the details, that distinguish the Barbra Streisands from the Rosalyn Kinds."~Gilmore Girls~
Apprentice the Musical...I dont know much about me but the thought scares me quite a bit...
"If you're a writer or a painter, you write or paint whenever you want to. But we have to do this task at a precise moment. At three minutes past eight, the curtain goes up, and you've got to pretend to believe, because no one else will believe you unless you believe it yourself. A great deal of our work is simply making ourselves dream. That is the task. At three minutes past eight,YOU MUST DREAM."
...but they would have to get the original four, I don't know how it would fly after they left... that's the danger of a TV-Musical, everyone's already so attached to the actors as their character. What a challenge, but all four actors on W&G sing, anyway, don't they? Well, I don't know about Debra Messing, but the other three I know definitely do.
I hold a degree in Musical Theatre from Montclair State University. It is useless. Now I'm funny for money. Oh, and I sing.
Fame was a movie first (and a very good one) and then became a lousy tv show and even more lousy off-Broadway musical.

I've seen Cop Rock. It was possibly one of the strangest things I've ever seen on TV. I don't think it was really the singing that did it, more like the early 90s dance numbers. It sucked ubelievably, but I'm sure all the people here who covet flops would love it.

I agree with grizzabella about Law and Order being made into a musical. It could work. What about Seinfeld? I mean Jerry Springer has an opera(my director said it was brilliant by the way) so I think Seinfeld should be a musical.
