Here's the situation - my cousins have offered to take me to either one of these shows. Which one do I pick?

DRS.
Spamalot is typical Monty Pyhton. It is overated, and if you don't like their tv show, or even he movies, then this won't thrill you.
DRS, however, has an amazing cast, great music, and a great story. I, myself, had no desire to see this, but was blown away, and has seen it twice.
If you're a huge Python fan, go see Spamalot.
Otherwise, see DRS. You won't regret it!

"Do you know what pledge time is, Andrew"? said the PBS Executive. "Yes", Lloyd Webber replied. "My 50th birthday special must be one program that gets done a lot." "No", mused the man from PBS heedlessy. "Not so much. Our Stephen Sondheim Carnegie Hall concert. That's a big one." Spoons, forks and knives seemed suddenly to suspend their motion in horror, all around the table.

I am really psyched, we just ordered tickets to DRS. It was my instinct to see that show, and you all confirmed it for me. Thank you. I'm so excited! I'm also seeing Sweet Charity, Little Women, Hairspray, Avenue Q and Wicked. It's going to be the best week!

Spamalot without a doubt. Hysterical. DRS is fine. But Spamalot is recieveing a lot of flack just because it's "the" show right now so people will love to hate it.

Practically Perfect -- sound's like you have a perfect NYC trip planned. Have a Jolly Holiday!

I saw DRS and LOVED it. I'm seeing Spamalot on May 8th, so I can't give an educated review.

Loved both shows but if I were to see one of them again it would be DRS.
Have fun!

I've seen them both. Spamalot was very disappointing, I've now seen DRS 3 times. You made a good choice.

SPAMALOT....hands down. DRS was wonderful....but it's your typical musical.......SPAMALOT, was different...I am NOT a Monty Python fan, and I LOVED SPAMALOT.......because there was enough change from the normal Python movie antics.

I am really tired of people saying....'If you don't like Monty Python, then you won't like Spamalot"....because there are two of us right here saying....WRONG.

Yeah... that was the point. It's not necessarily true to say that you won't like it if you don't like Monty Python, just like it's not necessarily true that you will like it if you do like Monty Python. re: Dilemma - DRS or Spamalot???

I totally agree with Yoda, I love python and did not like Spamalot at all. It wasn't a reaction to the hype though; I really expected to love it and was very excited to see it and it just fell flat for me.
I adore DRS it is a more "traditional" musical but it is a fabulous example of that, with lots of really funny outside the box moments, I feel like Spamalot failed miserably at being groundbreaking. (I know a lot of people don't agree, that's just how I felt.)

I stand corrected, you are as vapid as they say.

I agree with yodamarie78 and smartpenguin78, Spamalot was not at all as good as I have heard it was. See Dirty Rotten Scoundrels instead.

Even though I would be being disloyal to my screen name, i would have to say Spamalot. DRS is good but Spam is the funniest thing i have ever seen. Any chance you could see both, I know Norbert would love to see you!
