I caught Kendra in Assassins and thought she was great. I would love to see her take on Galinda.

I'd love that casting too! BTW, if Boston isnt a stop, I will be mighty angry. lol

But, who would take over for Idina on Broadway if Stephanie would be hitting the road?

No, no, no! Broadway wants Stephanie!

BWayTheatre11 - are you from Cleveland as well?

Snap, me too!

Are you in a production of Joseph somewhere?

snap, me too!

Lol.

Well, if you ARE from Cleveland, you should know by now that it will totally NOT be a stop for the first tour. It wasn't for anything big, we're lucky if we get a second tour and not later...

I know I'll hate myself in the morning for engaging on the millionth Wicked thread with a similar topic, but because I've got an invested interest in seeing the Wicked tour and my travel plans for next year hinge on it, I'll join in.

Is there any speculation on the Fiyero? If Stephanie Block's playing Elphaba on Bway, who's the next up for the tour?

I was lucky enough to catch Jenna, Derrick and Kendra in their respective shows on Broadway. The show is slated to be in Denver next fall. It was just announced here last week but no firm dates set yet. Enjoyed the show in NY but it will be nice not to pay 100 bucks to see it again. Our prices are lower in Denver. But our theatre is almost twice the size of the Gershwin.

wow, i LOVE that casting!!! if i don't get to see Jenna in BARE then i'll be more than excited to see her in WICKED! i read somewhere that it's scheduled to hit the Dallas area next fall, too. i can't wait! i think stephanie should do the tour and get her name out there more.

I am just wondering how scaled down it will be. And wondering if they will cut the flying monkeys above the orchestra section.

onviously, the scenes involving trap doors will be reworked... the witch's hat will be swept off another way.. the witch's mother's lover will exit anotherw ay.. the No Good Deed entrance will from the wings.. and Elphaba will enter during March of the Witch Hunters differently. The castle will be redesigned with a platform for her to melt into... Glinda and Elphaba will not come from under the stage before Defying Gravity...

the proscenium are will not be as heavily decorated with all of the stuff extending out onto the auditorium walls.... I am positive there will be a false proscenium and there will almost definately be the stair units and small balconies at the sides though... the dragon may be included.... though it will be atered to tour easily and will probbaly be run via winches rather than stagehands..

I don't think they'll cut all of the monkeys over the audience.. I am sure there wouldn't be a problem with having two out there in most theatres. ZFX/paul Rubin, who fly Wicked, also flew Rigby in peter pan and she sails over teh audience during curtain call... though some theatres will not allow that due to the rigging required.

Too true, Jenna is going to play Nessa and will be amazing at it and I hope to see her as Elphaba one day too!

the descending bridge in Wicked will probably be smaller.. maybe even a rolling unit instead... and some of the hard portals may be soft for the tour..

Peter Pan will be here in Jan. for the second time. I am sure she will probably fly over the audience. The Buelle is a state of the art theatre. That bugs me sometimes because we have this theatre that can handle anything but we still get the scaled down shows. I was hoping Wicked would start its tour here and build it's sets here to scale down while on tour. We closed our theater for Sunset Blvd. to do that and the tour opened here. As did a few other shows.

The tour is opening in Toronto and will be there for about two months.

uncag,

That would be COMPLETELY impractical. The cost of building sets for a first class tour is far to expensive to rationalize building an even larger set than you need just to use half the set at "some" theatres... the set/show has to be built to a.) fit into the smallest (REASONABLY so) expected theatre they will encounter in the tour and b.) to be able to be packed and shipped quickly, efficiently, reasonably compactly and without undo damage to the pieces. The costs of building, insuring, and shipping sets on a first class national tour is just too great to have more than can be used in EVERY theatre

As far as Rigby's audience flyover.. it has NOTHING tod o on how state of teh art the building is.. true.. some older theatres may not be SAFE to fly over, but it depends on theatre management... an audience flyover requires drilling into the house ceiling and securing to frames and trusses.... not all theatres want to deal with that.
