I think Doris Roberts as one of the strippers would be funny.
If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.
I'd love to see Patti LuPone play Rose. I feel it is a role she was born to play. However, this will never come to pass while Arthur Laurents is still alive. For some odd reason he hates Patti.
BTW: please check the spelling of Ms LuPone's name. She was named after the great Italian opera singer Adelina Patti. Correctly, her name should be pronounced Pah-tee, but even Ms LuPone uses the American pronunciation.
It wasn't such an odd reason. Arthur Laurents has issues with Patti for bailing out on his play, Jolson Sings Again. I don't think he has issues with her talent. If those two could kiss and make up, maybe it could come to pass. See what you can do, Dolly. You've always been a woman who arranges things!
As for Patti playing Rose...well, I do think she'd be a very good Rose. She's comic, can belt the songs out of the park and also has the dramatic chops. What makes me less interested in Patti actually playing the role is I think I can almost imagine that whole performance in my head before I actually see it. I'd think she'd be very much in the Merman mold. Not that that's a bad thing. But what has been interesting about Bernadette's Rose is to see the different colors the role has. While I'd gladly see Patti's Rose, I'd also be interested in a quirkier choice for the role as well. I wonder what Bebe Neuwirth, for example, might do with it...
