I love Patty Duke. Remember when she did that movie on LIFETIME...oh wait...that is every movie on lifetime. She really is great though. I don't understand half the people who have stars on the hollywood walk of fame. I don't understand half the people are famous, actually. kinda like the olsen trolls...twins.

Patty Duke got her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame?

That's great! It was long over-due anyway.

Who can ever forget her as "Neely" in "Valley of the Dolls"

"Sparkle Neely!, Sparkle!"....LOL

I like the line she has in "Dolls"...."Boobies, boobies, boobies. Nothing but boobies!". They don't write them like that anymore.

Don't you pay for your star on the walk of fame? I guess the Olsen girls have more disposable income.

They do have more income, as they are a brand, and for many years Ms. Duke has chosen to work as little as possible.

"I don't really get the ending, all i can go with is when after several months,Judith saw Pat sang, and later she kissed him on the toilet, after that the story back to where Pat went down from the stage after he'd sung, and he went to the italian lady.I just don't get it,what Judith exatcly meant when he kissed Pat that she had seen, and did Pat end up together with The Italian Lady? Please help me,thank u very much!" Quote from someone on IMDB in reference to a movie he/she didn't understand. Such grammar!

"Don't you pay for your star on the walk of fame? I guess the Olsen girls have more disposable income."

Yes, you DO have to pay...$15,000. It costs the same for everyone so their income shouldn't matter. You must be nominated but only a very small handful of performers are given a star each year. If they are given a star, they MUST agree to appear at it's unveiling. According to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce ( http://www.hollywoodchamber.net/ ) here are the criteria for a star on the Walk of Fame:

Criteria for Star on the Walk of Fame
1. Professional achievement
2. Longevity of five years in the field of entertainment
3. Contributions to the community

The recipient must agree to attend the dedication ceremony.

There is a five-year waiting period after death for nominations of deceased individuals. The Committee does not necessarily select posthumous honorees each year.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce makes every effort to schedule a dedication ceremony on the date requested by the honoree. A 60 to 90 day lead period is needed for required permits, the manufacture of the star, and advance publicity.

All applications must include a bio (not exceeding two pages) and photo. Non-returnable samples of the nominee’s work may also be submitted (e.g., Recording category – music CD; Motion Picture – video cassette). The Committee does not accept signature petitions or postcards, letters, etc. First-time nominations not selected will automatically roll-over for another year. If not selected during the second year, the nominee must be re-submitted.

Please be advised that if your nominee is selected and the induction does not take place within five years of the selection date the nominee must be re-submitted during another voting period.

Incidentally the Walk of Fame is not limited to people/humans...recently a star was given to Donald Duck and Kermit the Frog.

Income DOES matter when it's a question of $15,000 - that's a bit smaller chunk out of the Olsens' checkbook than it is out of Duke's.

She was really wonderful in The Miracle Worker - and Ann Bancroft is a goddess who can do no wrong, in my book!

Yes, but that's assuming they nominate themselves and pay for it themselves...which isn't always the case. Often fan clubs raise the money and submit the nomination.

The Olsens' fan club would mostly consist of children/young teens I would guess - I'm sure they wouldn't be asking them to contribute.

As far as dear Ms. Duke, as sad as it is, I think the amount of people in whatever fan club(s) she would have would make it necessary for members to donate a good sum each. I'm assuming both Duke and the Olsens paid for their own stars.

Ms. Duke's star was sponsored by the Hallmark Company (she did not pay for the star herself). Ms. Duke has made several movies for the Hallmark Company. As a matter of fact she has a new movie scheduled for Sept 5 on the Hallmark Channel....
