I think that he has the perfect sound, figure, and look to be the new Edna. Has anyone seen him on tour??? How was he?? Since Michael McKean got surprisingly excellent reviews, it will be all the more harder for Bruce, following in the footsteps of two people who really made the role their own,and who were both phenomenal in it.
How can you say it will be difficult for Bruce to follow in Michael's footsteps since he originated the role of Edna on tour? I had the pleasure of seeing all three guys and they each gave wonderfully different performances.

I liked Sandra Denise on the tour, but the 2nd time I saw it during the tours 3rd week, Ally Mauzey went on as Penny, and she was phenomenal. Ally's not on the tour anymore though.

I love him. I saw his one man show a few years ago and it was the funniest show i have ever seen. I really laughed so hard my sides hurt. He is a genius. I want him to bring back his one man show. LOVE HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
All the Tour people are wonderful as I have stated before and anyone of them could do their part in bringing a new energy and chemistry to the Broadway "Hairspray" if needed. Besides Bruce(as said before he has a warmth and real feel to the Edna role) Todd and JoAnn are amazing and Jordan, Sue, Terron,Troy, etc. make the show..they are all so good the list goes on and on!! I have heard that this Tour cast is doing some sort of a charity gig in LA first for the local AIDS group and then on the "Rent" boards someone said they are granting a wish for a little girl from the Make A Wish Foundation to dance in a Broadway show and one of the former "Rent" cast members got it started, sounds awesome on both counts, and sounds like they will really be busy in LA!!! kudos to the Hairspray Tour Cast for taking the time to make a difference in this world!
Bruce is terrific on the tour. No doubt he will be terrific in NYC. I'm sorry to see him leave us. However, I had my 1st rehearsal today with John Pinette (Bruce's replacement as Edna on the tour). He's fantastic and funny as hell. He too, will be terrific.
Jim, do you ever get any rest? Traveling from SAn FRan in that new HOT car, then rehearsals with Marissa and Matt, opening in SAn Diego, rehearsals with the new "Edna" then in 2 days off to open at the Pentages in LA...do you ever have time to enjoy what you are doing? I think you need a real "happy hour"!
