I am in a big mood to buy a musical Cast Recording tomorrow to add to my collection. In your opinion, what would be the best choice?

I second the suggestion for Taboo. It is still in CD player. I can not stop listening to it.

May I suggest something completely different?

FINE AND DANDY from PS Classics. Bought it three weeks ago and I STILL haven't been able to take it off of my CD player!

Praying Decca Broadway will put "Don't Bother Me, I Can't Cope" on CD!

I would say Prodigal, tick tick BOOM or Zanna, Don't!

Ok, I always have trouble picking out a new cast recording. Could someone suggest something based on some shows I like. Some favorites include: Chicago, Cabaret, Gypsy, Rent, Wicked, Taboo, Ave Q. Thanks.

Anything by Stephen Sondheim. Unless you own everything, in which case I am jealous.

Taboo London & B'Way casts, both are wonderful!

Seven and a half cents doesn't buy a hell of a lot!

If you're going to get a Sondheim (which I highly recommend), the OBCs of Sweeney Todd, A Little Night Music, Company, and Sunday in the Park With George are real standouts.

Falsettoland is one of my favorite contemporary recordings. Or you could get a classic like the OBC of My Fair Lady. And...I'll stop right there. :)

The Frogs/Evening Primrose. Neil Patrick Harris is orgastic in it.

There's also a great new re-release of No Strings - a really beautiful score.

"I don't really get the ending, all i can go with is when after several months,Judith saw Pat sang, and later she kissed him on the toilet, after that the story back to where Pat went down from the stage after he'd sung, and he went to the italian lady.I just don't get it,what Judith exatcly meant when he kissed Pat that she had seen, and did Pat end up together with The Italian Lady? Please help me,thank u very much!" Quote from someone on IMDB in reference to a movie he/she didn't understand. Such grammar!

How about Merrily We Roll Along (the 1994 New Broadway Cast recording with Malcolm Gets and Michelle Pawk). It's my second favorite Sondheim show (second to Assassins), and is really overlooked (in my opinion). It's got some great stand-out numbers like "Franklin Shepard, Inc." "Old Friends" "Not A Day Goes By(Parts 1 and 2)", "Good Thing Going" and "Our Time".

I am looking forward to adding Assassins to my collection, but I would also recomend "Zanna Don't", "Taboo", "Wonderful Town" and anything "Forbidden Broadway".

As technology has allowed remastering many cast recordings of the past, why not build a collection based on what are representative recordings ( maybe from 1-5) of shows from each of the last 5-6 decades.

Start with OKLAHOMA! ( although I would rather Hugh sing the part of Curly ;:)... that would the late 1940's...

And end up with the current decade.
