My musical theatre director just asked the group to find 10 musicals that were originally broadway plays. If I get these, I get a copy of Sweeney Todd cast recording. Please if anyone can give me any of these, it would be greatly appreciated. thank you!!!
I only know one, sorry, but it is Oklahoma. It is based on some play with Flowers in the name or something. But I know that it was based on a play, because my dad bet me it wasn't, so I went and checked it out.
If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.
Well, Matt, if you wanna put on your picky-pants, KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN, although indeed a play, was never on B'Way in a non-musical form. And WINDY CITY has never had a B'Way production, either! Although I think it should be given another try.
But of course, you are absolutely correct on both counts. And I agree about Windy City. I think it deserves a shot. It has a really nice score. I know it played London and Germany, but did it ever play in the US?
Oops! I guess she did say Broadway plays, so that rules out Kiss of the Spider Woman. But she didn't say Broadway musicals, so Windy City is still in.

The second act of Romance, Romance ("Summer Share") was based on the play Pain de Menage. I don't think it counts, though, as the first act "The Little Comedy" was based on a short story of the same name.
