Couldn't find another thread on this, I swear there had been one but seems like it disappeared.

Went to first preview tonight, and I had a super fun time and was somewhat surprised by how deep the show was, Marc is very charming if a bit green on a theater stage

Seemed to be a lot of younger people which was nice to see. Alex Brightman wrote this and there were clearly some Beetlejuice fans in the house, one girl was dressed in the full pinstripes, and another girl had a vintage Double Dare shirt from the 90s who got pulled up on stage, yes there is audience participation but mostly its voluntary, you can put your name in a bowl and they pick people out to play Double Dare through the show

It was in the smaller theater at New World which felt smart, had it been in the 500 seater it would have been lost.

Lots of fun merch including a "I Won A Trip To Space Camp" pin which I picked up.

Will be curious to hear other peoples thoughts on this one.

Having been born in the late 80s, I was a BIG Nickelodeon kid in the 90s! While I haven't seen many Off-Broadway shows at all, I had to get a ticket to this.

As I see it, Marc was one of the poster children, if not THE poster child of 90s Nickelodeon. So, I look forward to learning more about Marc's life (I've heard bits and pieces) & reliving my youth through the Double Dare elements.

My cousin went to Space Camp. I still think about that from time to time and yeah, I'm still jealous. Trying to fIt this show into my life ASAP.

I was there too and really enjoyed it. Didn’t really know what to expect, but thought it would be symbolic  to see someone who raised me as a kid on TV for my 37th birthday. Thought he did a great job telling his story in a fun way and was awesome to see some live Double Dare. Was curious what my girlfriend who wasn’t raised on Nick would think, but she enjoyed it as well. Hope this does well for him. I definitely came out of it rooting for his success.

I've heard/read many times that Marc is a really good guy, who is respected and loved by many.

I hope he has a lot of success with this show.

I remember him telling a story in an interview about how he was seated at a table at some awards show, and the A-listers didn't want to sit at his table.

I'm seeing this tonight and will be sure to report back. This is one of my most anticipated off bway shows atm. Very excited.

Telecharge says:"Please be aware that the front row is a designated SPLASH ZONE - you may be splashed with stray milk, shaving cream, water, and/or SLIME."

Anyone sit there, or see if people who did got splashed? It sort of seems that if you're interested in seeing this show, the potential of getting splashed would be part of the appeal.

The people in the front row receive ponchos

Lena Hall made a guest appearance as a contestant tonight! And per her request, she was pied in the face. Marc mentioned that she's working on a one woman show. Can't wait for that!

Life and Slimes is a delight and there's a lot more to the show than I expected.

"In theater, the process of it is the experience. Everyone goes through the process, and everyone has the experience together. It doesn't last - only in people's memories and in their hearts. That's the beauty and sadness of it. But that's life - beauty and the sadness. And that is why theater is life." - Sherie Rene Scott

Wonder if this is going to turn into like what Gutenberg did?

We were there tonight and unknowingly sat in the front row. A bit of slime did land on my white puffer jacket. It wiped off immediately and was no big deal at all. I had no idea who Marc Summers was but my partner grew up watching Double Dare and wanted to go. Frankly, it was quite charming and ultimately a touching and funny 90 minute show. Many dates are available on TDF so it was well worth a night out.

Went to today’s matinee (via TDF) and was in the front row, seat 3. Splash Zone, and ponchos were available for $1. I didn’t mind whatever it was about to be splashed on me, so I went without.

Couldn’t have been more fun and charming! As others have said you just can’t help root for Marc.

I was lucky enough to be selected to participate in Double Dare. Yes I did the physical challenge and my team won! My prize was an $25 voucher to a nearby restaurant, can’t beat that. (Audience participation is used for more than just Double Dare btw) So much fun! And even got some slime on me at the end.

I see a couple of exciting creatives attached to the piece in Gasparini and Brightman.

Is Nickelodeon one of the producers of this show?

Personally, I have no interest in this - but my kids might - they are definitely more the demographic than I.

But yes, how nice to see such resounding support!

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Looking at the Stagelight, I don't see Nickelodeon attached, though apparently Guy Fieri is a producer.

Anyway, I watched the show tonight and I can't remember the last time I had so much fun going to the theater. If you were a fan of Double Dare at any point in your life, this is just as much fun as an adult.

There is this disclaimer on the website

"None of the opinions expressed are those of Nickelodeon and Viacom."

but honestly, if I was paramount I would maybe film this and distribute it

Music to this child of the 90s' ears! - I can't wait to see it next Saturday night & relive my childhood.

Is it true that they have some pretty awesome merchandise items? Anything stick out as particually cool?

As someone who's been dealing with a lot of rejection lately, this was a show I needed to see. One person shows sometimes give me pause, but this one was firing on all cylinders even for previews. Marc Summers really holds the stage like a pro. He also deals with the themes of his OCD, as a warning to some. It's crazy going from crying one moment to a Double Dare challenge the next, but that made this show so unpredictable and fun. For $30-50, this is worth it by all accounts. I'll be having my family add this to their itinerary for their semi-annual trip next month.

Ponchos were free in the front row when I was there. I had also never been to New World Stages somehow and holy **** is that an impressive and pretty facility. Reminds me of a performing arts campus. Didn't snap a photo of the merch, but it seemed plentiful. Got a magnet for $10, which I consider a good price nowadays. I met a mother who brought her young child to connect to her own childhood of watching Marc onstage. Seems like a great show for all audiences.

It's been a while since I've been able to fully rave over a show to others. And it's wonderful, especially for this little offbway show. It's clear Marc is so full of joy performing each night.

This sounds like so much fun, especially the potential audience participation!  Does anyone know if he comes out to "stage door" after the show?

I think he does.

While I haven't seen the show yet, I have seen pics on social of media of him signing autographs and posing with fans outside of New World stages.
