Ramin was in the show from the start and didn’t receive a Tony nom."
Couple of reasons - the show was such a clunker initially, also, he was out with Covid when the Tony people were making the rounds. Still, the main reason was the original presentation. He got some of the best reviews at the time and the newer reviews comment on his excellent work.

His performance now opposite Lea is electric . He was gorgeous yet stiff opposite the two previews Fannys.

Much as I dislike admitting it, you are right. He did say he was doing the show because it made him uncomfortable, and he wanted to do something new. That said, it's hard to blame him entirely, you need someone to work with. This is the first time I've seen him not have chemistry with his leading lady(ies). Glad to see the show come together for everyone involved. If at first you don't succeed.
I was reading the Playbill and it got me thinking. Next year will be her 50th year on Broadway. It would actually make sense for her to get a special Tony based on that even though she won’t be eligible for Funny Girl. That seems like a fair recognition for her performance.

Ramin acts with his hands - that was the first thing I noticed when I saw the RAH25 DVD of Phantom, and over the years since I discovered him and explored his other work, I find I actually watch them as much as his facial expressions and/or other movements. If they were curled up in tension, it was because the character was likely feeling tension.
Where I felt him actually seeming tense was in a video I saw tonight of a very early performance of Temporary Arrangement from March, so previews. He smiled a lot and I thought he was smiling more from getting the steps right than being in character! For a non-dancer, he did a great job, but it had to be uncomfortable. The woman who uploaded the scene you mentioned unfortunately, only had the beginning and ending of TA - she hadn't recorded the dancing, which was too bad, I'd liked to have had the comparison.

Barbra was the show 58 years ago. This production seems more of a collaborative effort even though Lea is the center, each lead character is given their moment to shine. There is a video on YouTube of Tovah and Jared doing Who Taught Her Everything She Knows and it's adorable.
She's a pro. I saw her recently in FUNNY GIRL and in her few scenes she was able to communicate to the audience a complete character that added dramatic weight and depth to the other cast members while charming us all.

And from where I sit, the only way he would get a To y nomination as Nick Arnstein was if they seriously had to pad the category to get more nominees ‘than Aaron Tviet’. I bet he would have gotten nominated if in that year, but it would not have been deserved. Anyone could have done that role.
