Geez, is EVERY Broadway performer just SO NICE and SWEET all the time?

What about those stars that scream "NO AUTOGRAPHS!" at terrified fans, bellow and belittle wait-staff for serving the soup with soda crackers instead of rye crisps, drop gum-wrappers in the outstretched cups of homeless people, fail to wash their hands after going to the bathroom and forget to send thank-you cards?

What about THOSE performers, Huh??!! HUH??

I met someone like that, at a community theater show.

And no one was even asking for autographs. re: re: Nastiest, rudest, all-around horrific Broadway performers

I posted this question on the other thread and was berated by one of the members so I changed my post... I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who was wanting to know!

Recent story: A friend and I were out at a bar last week and my friend who was visiting from CALI got very excited to see Boy George. So we walked over, my friend tapped him on the shoulder and politely said: "Hello, I've been a huge fan of yours forever, would you mind if I take my picture with you?" to which Boy replied: "No" and turned back around to his friends.

The same night we encountered Jai Rodriguez who was very gracious as well as Kim Catrell who was also very nice.

I was tempted to tell Boy: "Yeah? Well, your show sucks!" But I refrained....

The nice ones are the ones that count. I never said every star is so nice and sweet. Who cares about the ones who wont give you the time of day. Those ones usually are eaten by Broadway alive. What would an actor do without fans?

If it makes you feel better, I stepped on his foot yesterday while they were doing some TV interview. (accidentally, of course!)

And does anyone know if Boy went on last night for Taboo? Because I thought that I heard one of them asking "Wait, are you performing tonight?" "God no."

Nathan Lane. Sorry, darling. I love you, but you need to stop being rude to me when I compliment you.

I love you, Master.

Well, the other thread definitely shed enough light on those nice ones but now it will be fun to hear about some of the horror stories that people have experienced.....

I'm sure maniacal fans at the stage door every evening can do a number on your patience and nerves. But those fans are keeping your ass employed so it would probably be in their best interest to sign, sign, sign.

It's good to be nice to fans after all they do buy your tickets , cd's whatever but I also think that a performer should have the freedom not to sign if they don't want to without explanation. It's different though if they are just being flat out mean or rude.

Hunter Foster just looked like he wanted to go home when I went to the stage door of "Little Shop" but he still said his thank yous, posed for a pic, and signed my playbill. He still had the decent curtesy. He was really quiet.

I've never met Hunter but my friend did and she said he was great. He came out and was gracious and nice and took pictures and signed everything. He even started a conversation with my friend and asked her name and all. Then at another event that she went to he remembered her and her name and everything. Maybe he just wasn't in a great mood that night!

You know what, you guys? Maybe it's you. Maybe you have really repulsive auras and give off vibes that indicate that you are black holes of sucking need for attention and it's not the stars, it's YOU! Betty Buckley's always been nice to me. I watched Nathan Lane react graciously to every single person who interrupted his dinner after Butley. Harvey Fierstein has never been has been anything but friendly to me every time I have encountered him: on a Torch Song film junket, at a Hartford Gay Pride rally, and outside the Neil Simon Theater.

Richard Dreyfuss has a rep of being mean and not signing things, but he signed my underwear and french kissed me when I told him the impact he had on me during puberty.

Well I don't know, maybe he had 2 bad days. I don't remember the days but I went two days in a row and I was talking to Kerry Butler, he came out and Kerry said she wanted him to meet me and he completely ignored her. She told me he wasn't like that and apologised for him. Kerry is so great. I hope to go again and meet him, I hate to think of him as a rude guy

Dreyfuss' blond chest hair was awesome in the 1970s!

OK, we've corralled a lovely bunch of truly despicable hard-hearted, cold-blooded meanies. But come on now, we've left out one category here. Who are the stars with impossible dressing-room demands?! Who insist on ONLY red, blue and yellow peanut (NOT plain) M&Ms in their Baccarat candy-dishes? Who MUST have apricot-colored roses in half-bloom after every performance? Whose soap after each performance has to be an unused hexoganal honey soap (the YELLOW one, NOT the brown or off-white one, PLEASE) from L'Occitante en Provence? Who trash their hotel rooms in every city on their MILLIE tour?!

Someone MUST know!!!??!
