On the subject of cast absences, does Matt Doyle have any scheduled absences coming up? Anyone know? My friend thought he heard of one coming up but couldn't recall any details. I know he's not above the title & therefore his absence wouldn't warrant a refund, but I was just looking forward to catching him in the role. (I have tickets to an upcoming performance but I am allowed to exchange two more times.)

I'm pretty sure Matt Doyle is on some kind of medical leave right now (no idea if it's Covid related). I know Javier Ignacio has been on for Jamie, and I vaguely remember seeing an IG story (no longer available because it was more than a day ago) that mentioned medical leave.

He had announced he was going to be out for a little while due to a knee injury, but it ended up not being as bad as expected and he is back now. Not sure of anything else upcoming.

My only source of stress is that I am driving someone in to the city on Wednesday from New Jersey to see the show. I can’t just walk up to the box office a couple hours prior and see if any absences from the main cast are posted before the matinee performance.

My friend I am taking has Parkinson’s and has recently been through a course of chemotherapy. He can get out, but it takes a little effort.

I really wish there were a way to find out if there are understudies on in real time, with the obvious exception of last minute announcements.

A friend of mine who is in another show suggested I call the box office to find out. I’m almost offended that she said that to me. As far as I know, there is no such thing as a listed number for a Broadway box office, and surely she knows that, too.

If you call Telecharge that morning at 212 239-6210, and explain the situation, they’ll probably call the box office for you.

I think Matt Doyle only missed two performances.

The box office generally won't know anything until the stage manager posts the cast board an hour or so before the performance. If the Star is out and it's a planned absence, they might know.
