Scientists now believe the U.S. has been spreading a more contagious form of COVID-19 than Wuhan once did. This mutation seemingly occurred in the virus's spike protein, and it has the potential to foil vaccine development and clinical trials being held right now. Thoughts?

I've been listening and following the advice of medical experts throughout this health crisis, especially Dr. Fauci. If he is concerned about this, so am I. He is certainly NOT fear mongering- throughout the pandemic, he knows what he is talking about and has reason, unlike the Orange Guy.

Research is underway to confirm the possible mutation and its implications,
On the odd chance that someone else here has enough of a science background to understand I will post a link to one of the TWO articles regarding this. While I do not question either their data or methodology- one robin does not a spring make .
“We don’t have a connection to whether an individual does worse with this or not; it just seems that the virus replicates better and may be more transmissible.”

Thanks for the heads-up. This was discussed on CNN this morning. As I understand, it can transmit faster....and that's a scary thing.
From that very first transmission to millions there HAS to have been a change to the virus along the way.
How does the data from victim no.1 compare to different nationalities/blood types? Has it remained exactly the same or is it starting to show signs that is becoming something else? Surely it is still not one and the same.
My thoughts are along the lines of SweetLips22. In the beginning they were saying younger people could handle it much better. It was the older people they were worried about. Now we are seeing younger people get sicker from it. My friend who is a medical worker in Arizona told me she is seeing younger patients and she asks them what they have been doing. She said 90% of them admit to have gone to parties or large gatherings without mask protection. I am not a disease specialist but I do feel that it is getting stronger as it transmits to different people. Just look at the current spike. It went from like 12 hot spot states to over 30 in a week (or two. I have honestly lost track) Just my opinion.
