What Musical Was This?

I was at a theatre conference in Madison, WI back in January, and several colleges performed scenes from their productions. There was one scene from either a musical or a play with music that I can't remember the title of. I remember that it ran off Broadway. The scene was first on a pirate ship, with a main character I believe is searching the world for his wife. Then, there's a shipwreck, and the man is swallowed by a whale (which is shown through this beautiful song with this really cool piece of stagecraft where a man's silhouette was projected onto a scrim with a spotlight). He then wakes up inside the belly of the whale, where he is greeted by another person trapped inside it.

I cannot for the life of me remember the title of this, show, and I'd like to listen to the soundtrack again. If this show sounds familiar to anyone, let me know

That sounds a lot like “The Mariner’s Revenge Song” by the Decemberists, which may have been in a musical but not a Broadway show.

I’m not 100% sure but this sounds like The Old Man and The Old Moon written by PigPen
