My SO and I saw the off-Broadway Little Shop around November and before the show we bought the plant pot at the gift shop. We got back home when we realized it had seeds, which as my SO is a huge plant nerd, she loved. On the seed packet the plant was advertised as a Chinese Money plant, but after a few weeks of growing, she realized they looked nothing like a Chinese Money plant. Does anyone have a clue what they could be, and/or if this is a ripoff? She's convinced the plant might just be some grass weeds, but we still do not know. If they are, they might not have been worth the $20 we spent on it.
You gladly spent $20 for the pot alone not even knowing seeds came with it. And you got the pot with the seeds as an unexpected bonus. So even if the seeds are not as labeled and I have no idea if they are, how could it possibly a ripoff or not worth what you paid for it when you were more than happy to pay $20 for the just the pot by itself?
It may not be a Chinese money plant. But it looks like the silver dollar plants we had in our yard growing up. Unlike the Chinese money plant whose leaves are round like coins, this money plant has riged leaves like the ones on your seedling, but then gets silvery, papery seed pods that look like coins. The botanical name is lunaria annua.
Art has a double face, of expression and illusion.
So your complaint is that the unmarked seeds, which you didn't even know were included, will grow up to look like the plant that was growing at the sample at the merch table exactly where you bought them?

Haha, exactly. You were ripped off at the theater before you even knew there were seeds.
And the plant at the theater looks exactly like the ones you have, just more mature.

As I said in the post, the packet itself said Chinese Money plant. We both noticed the Money Plant at the shop after the fact with the picture I shared. I was not expecting that when I bought it, but it still disappointing after reading the seed packet. "Rip off" might have been a little exaggeratied, but it would feel cheap if the seeds were just random grass weeds.
Thank you artscallion, our plant seems to be growing like that. Appreciate the information and it's not just some grass seed (knowing what the plant is really puts my SO's mind to ease).
