Cast albums are usually done on a single payout basis, cast members get a week's pay for showing up and recording, something like that -- exceptions are made with big stars, depending on contracts, and so on, who might get more frequent payouts. If something sells really well, there's sometimes a bonus at the 100,000 sales mark. Doesn't happen often.
I don't know how it works with opera recordings. Probably similarly. I imagine Pavarotti-level stars had something in their contracts.

So the cast of "Hamilton" might do better than the average - lol
I’m curious about streaming platforms. I don’t really buy physical albums or even digitally and I mostly use Apple Music and Spotify. Do they still make money for every time an album or track gets streamed?
In our millions, in our billions, we are most powerful when we stand together. TW4C unwaveringly joins the worldwide masses, for we know our liberation is inseparably bound.

Streaming platforms must pay per track stream according to contract; there's a minimum per song which of course is then divided between the people who are due royalties from sales [and, now streams].
