With these bio-musicals coming to Broadway soon, does anyone else think Bombshell could be considered for the stage anytime soon?

Sorry--and obviously I'm aware that it's musical within a TV show, but I think with the right creative team it might work!

They’ve talked in the past about working on the stage version, but since the passing of Craig Zadan, one of the producers, I haven’t heard anything. Neil Meron, the other producer, seems to have slowed down a bit.

Oh man, I didn't even know Tina...Diana...Bombshell? Do you think they'd consider Hit List?

I think Bombshell's been kicking around for a while, but like an earlier poster said, who knows.  I do remember the creators saying early on that they'd have to change a lot of it because having the main character sing that much just isn't realistic.  I would definitely be interested in seeing an actual mounting of some sort of Marilyn musical using some of the songs from Smash though, if not all.

Hit List I could see them doing more of a limited run in a smaller Off-Broadway space concert style or something (which I think they've done before at 54 Below or similar) since they have so many different songwriters and songs that weren't specifically written for the production, which really made it kind of incomprehensible tbh.

^ You're right. They did do a Hitlist staged concert at 54 Below, and it was great. Everyone who was in Hitlist in the show was there except Katherine McPhee. Even some of the songwriters were there. The took people's cell numbers and communicated with them during the night just like Kyle's idea on the show. It was a lot of fun! You can find videos on YouTube.

I also agree that the problem is the amount of singing for Marilyn in Bombshell. Reminds me of why someone said Yentl never became a stage musical. Maybe one day they'll figure it out, but for now, all of those great songs will just exist in the recordings. Some of Shaiman and Wittman's best, so at least we have that.

I loved the Hit list concert. I think it would be successful off Broadway for a few months. One can dream...

I've really come to appreciate the Hit List music more recently since I rewatched Smash. I have Original, Rewrite This Story, and I'm Not Sorry on repeat! Love those songs.

HAHA It'd be interesting if they did something at NYTW since that was the inspiration for Smash's version-MTW.

Was a book ever actually written for Hit List?

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I could be wrong but I think this is the closest we got. https://www.vulture.com/2013/05/smash-hit-list-plot-revealed.html
