Sorry this post is late, but two weeks ago (May 2) Whoopi Goldberg heaped much praise on 'The Ferryman' on The View, a show she had seen the night before. Whoopi pointed out it deserves every Tony nomination it was nominated for the day before - the show knocked her out and the performances were flawless.
“You will see your family in it. It doesn’t matter what you look like; your family is represented here because this is what we all have gone through and go through every day.” said Goldberg.
In the past, Goldberg and her other cohosts have taken turns praising "Summer", "Margaritaville", "Head Over Heels", and especially "Ruben & Clay's First Annual Christmas Carol Family Fun Pageant Spectacular Reunion Show" . Let's hope her praise of 'The Ferryman' isn't the kiss of death for this show.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
Whoopi has been a champion of Broadway for her entire career. Broadway is where Mike Nichols gave her her big break. She’s also a Tony Award winning producer and multiple Tony Award host.
Plus, Ruben & Clay’s Show got the effusive praise of Meghan McCain (Aiken’s friend)

I've wondered about that, though they never seem to go to see the same shows. Not sure whether the producers are sending them tickets, or they are calling their 'contacts' connected to the show and get tickets.
I remember Rosie O'Donnell always saying she would take Elisabeth Hasslebeck and her children to see Disney shows on Broadway, because Hasslebeck never went to the theater. Maybe the tix aren't available to all?
