Saw "Tootsie" for the second time last night; first time was in previews.
Can't remember if the line from Stan to Michael, about "Dorothy Michaels" likely being nominated for a Tony Award was in the preview version. I'm pretty sure it must have been. But it stood out for me last night because of the enthusiastic meta applause from the audience for Santino.
I expect that's been the case since the nominations.
I realize "Tootsie" isn't getting a lot of love on these boards, but it's fun to see an audience enjoying itself so much. Heard a woman at intermission say, "My face hurts from laughing."
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
The line was there when I saw it in previews. Saw it again this week and this is the only show I can recall seeing that there was applause after book scenes - audience was eating it up.
