I think it's a very good season but was also hoping for The Prom. I am thinking it may go to the Winspear when they announce. We are lucky to have two Broadway venues in Dallas and now that they are no longer fighting each other it will be all the better.And my sister and I live two hours from Dallas but gladly drive sometime 2-3 weekend a month to see Broadway

I totally understand! I live 90 minutes from Indy but only two hours from Louisville and I go to both cities to see shows. I'd be thrilled if both seasons were great and I would buy season tickets to both. I'm waiting patiently for both announcements. Indy is February 13 and Louisville is March 4 I think. I'll wait to see both seasons before I decide. I really want to see My Fair Lady, Once On This Island and Mean Girls.

It has already been confirmed that Phantom is closing next month, Dolly in March, and Aladdin in April. Beautiful and Les Miserables should have dates for next year, not sure as of yet about Saigon. 


At this point, only a handful of markets have announced for next year-even with the number of new-launch tours, there is demand for add-on/season special weeks of titles like these which, while maybe not first run, sell well.

It’s been announced that Aladdin is restructuring the tour. It’s currently the largest tour in North America and therefore cannot currently play many smaller houses/markets. They’re supposed to reopen the smaller tour in 2021. (And still equity from my understanding)

I assume Harry Potter will come to LA after the run in SF closes, not before.  For Cursed Child's "Big moment" I'm not sure how the show would work in the Pantages.   When it does come to LA, I assume they too will want and open ended run, which rules out the Dolby as the Oscar's have it for 6 weeks annually.  Personally I'd love it if it found a way to play one of the Broadway theatres.  (meaning on Broadway in Downtown LA) . however, most do not have the backstage space needed.

Even if LA were a possibility it’s going to be a long wait. The run in SF is open ended.

In TO probably Mirvish won't declare till end of Feb beginning of March. EDIT Feb 19 2020 for new subscription  series.

That being said..

 

I strongly suspect The Prom will be one if only bcos of the Bob Martin connection I know its not that great but history)

I suspect Groundhog Day  and maybe TKAM (maybe!)

Just not  sure about the others.

Any other TO members care to weigh in?

The Come From Away tour is doing longer runs in Canadian cities in 2021.Most Canadian cities will get the tour for two weeks this time instead of just one. Calgary also announced, and it's the same as Vancouver minus Chicago.

Yep, they dangled Hamilton as bait, but then... anyways Hamilton plays for a month summer 2021, so getting tickets without a subscription should be fine.

By then there will be something all shiny & new that has just won a Tony that I'll be more interested in seeing.

Even Anastasia doesn't come until next January. 

I'm not going to renew.

I wouldn't count on Groundhog Day. Toronto is always a mixed bag. I always count on something from left field, that no one could have predicted. If I had to guess, I would say possibly "Oklahoma" and "To Kill A Mockingbird", only because Mr. Mirvish is a producer on Broadway. Maybe 'Mean Girls" or "The Cher Show"...there is also the chance of a Pre-Broadway engagment. It's all very unpredictable. I do know that My Fair Lady (booked for a week in Buffalo) and Frozen (book for Detroit in Aug. 2020) are not booked for Toronto.

Also, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is playing the Ed Mirvish Theatre come Fall, and I believe it's a open ended run, so who knows how long it will last. Also, Come From Away is still playing into the late spring. So, I suspect it will closed at the end of the summer, so the Royal Alex and Princess of Wales can be the tour touring houses for the season. Oklahoma would work at the RA. I don't see Mr. Mirvish using the Elgin/Winter Garden again, but I could be wrong. 

Toronto is also a city that for the last few years has received tours in late in their runs. Everything on tour currently, we have had, or is Non-Equity (Toronto does get Non-Eq tours, but are always add on shows...never a part of the main subscription). So, this will all be interesting. Around this time every year, I will Dancap was still around, or I hope Meridian Hall picks up another tour (ie. the past December's Spongebob).

Just to add to my comments re Vancouver:
It's pretty bad when what they do come up with makes you wish for a non-equity Groundhog Day.

Ahh. I’m at a loss. Do I just not renew and buy tickets out right for Hamilton... Unsure if the Vancouver season actually entices me this time around.

At least this yeah there is only 1 non equity tour coming to Vancouver (Chicago)

If you are signed up with their e-club thing you can still get individual tickets during each presale, before they go on general sale.
Also, last fall with Beautiful I entered to lottery & got a decent orchestra seat for only $50.

The 2020-2021 Ahmanson season is shaping up to be possibly the best I've ever seen.

Hadestown, Dear Evan Hanson, To Kill a Mockingbird and I'm guessing the Prom will be added as well.

I'm also curious and hopeful that Anastasia stays equity. 

I went to Broadway Across America's website for Vancouver (since they recently announced Anastasia) and they are using Lila's photo from the tour - maybe it will still be equity?

I hope so too. They were using old tour imagery for Waitress promo. But we were the first stop before new tour images were out with the new non-equity cast... so it could also mean nothing for us still.
