Now that Kinky Boots has closed, what’s going on at the Hirschfield in the next 80 days when the first MR Preview begins? It’ll be interesting if someone got pictures of the KB marquee coming down and whatever load-out occurs of the sets and other KB related materials. Or will they just dismantle it and send it off to the tour?

Posted in another thread, I mentioned being told of Hirschfield interior renovations to expand the lobby and grand staircase leading up to the balcony. Any other details of that?

And will they be using the exact same MR set used in Boston, stored somewhere until now, and they’ll have a load-in day? Seems like there’s a LOT to do between now and a possible dress rehearsal for the press.

Wasn't aware that this was happening...lobby is tight but ornate.

I'm sure they'll use any pieces they can from the Boston production, but that will depend upon the difference in size of the stage between the two theaters.   I'm sure most of what NEEDS to be built has been getting produced already.  Productions wait as long as they can before moving into a space, the second they put a light or set piece in the theater billing begins.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

The load-out started on Monday and will likely be complete sometime next week.  I doubt they use much of the set for the tour.  Touring sets need to load in and out quickly and will likely be redesigned from the broadway version.

Load-in for MR will start very soon, a typical bway load-in runs about a month, and is followed with a couple weeks of dry tech before the actors come onstage. Tech can last anywhere from two to four weeks before previews begin.  There is definitely A LOT to get accomplished before the opening in June.

Much of the set should be the same from the Boston version, with adjustments made for the difference in theatre size and any design changes they decided to make.
