I have a recurring stress dream where I'll be in a play (in last night's case, David Ive's The Liar) and I won't know any of the lines and I'll be on stage, trying to do my best. Has anyone ever had any theatre-related dreams like that?

this is so embarrassing but i have been having a reoccurring dream where i got cast as cady heron in the national tour of mean girls. it’s probably related to the fact that i’m stressed cause it’s mid-terms and my subconscious just wants me to retreat to a safer place lmao

Had a dream I had to fill in for someone in Newsies. It had to be Seize the Day or maybe The World Will Know, but whatever. When my solo line (just a single line) came up, I totally blanked, and every. Single. Newsie. Looked. At. Me. They didn’t try to cover it up, didn’t try to say my line for me or move on. I got the dirtiest looks ever. Sad times. I got offstage (and was probably crying) and Ben Fankhouser was the only one who told me it was okay LOL.

Also had another dream I was in Anastasia as Anya’s understudy. I went on one night and did the whole drop-the-broom-run-into-Gleb scene. Honestly, dream me crushed it. Woke up after that, but yknow. If Anastasia ever needs an understudy, I’ve got the broom scene down.

It's a classic happening to actors,  referred to AS the actor's nightmare. There's an excellent one act play about it.

The Actor's Nightmare is a short comic play by Christopher Durang. It involves an accountant named George Spelvin, who is mistaken for an actor's understudy and forced to perform in a play for which he doesn't know any of the lines.  (And the play keeps switching)

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I never have theatre related dreams which is odd, since my life is made up of theatre. But when I do it’s always the same one. It’s dancing through life at wicked, and whoever plays fieyro breaks his stomach (yes I know weird lmao) right before the song starts, and they call on a random auidence member and It’s always me, and It’s so stressful lol

A few weeks ago I dreamt I was in Come From Away. I was sitting in the "airplane" and thinking hmmm, I don't know any of my lines or songs. Oddly, I wasn't at all stressed. I just thought, well they wouldn't have hired me if I didn't know what I was doing, so I must know my lines - I'll just go with it. Then the dream morphed and it was a tech rehearsal or something (maybe for the touring company?) and I wasn't an actor anymore - I was a production assistant or maybe a stage manager and I was standing in for an actor who couldn't be there, they just needed someone to do the blocking for the lights or whatever. All the others were the real actors, and when it came time for my character to sing his song, my scene partner sang my part and I tried to lip-synch as well as I could. I woke up laughing.
