I think the big winners will be Hadestown, Samantha Barks, and Santino Fontana.
LesWickedly said: "The competition would have to be very weak for Samantha to even get a nomination. Seems like it very well may be. I doubt the show will make it to the spring l, so they’ll be forgotten come awards time."Have you seen Pretty Woman? The show may be overall weak but Samantha was SENSATIONAL and multiple reviews, and members of this board have said so. Samantha WILL get a nomination, and I wouldn't be surprised if she won.
I think that Kelli O'Hara is going to get nominated on her name alone, but I think that Samantha will have stiff competition from Stephanie J Block specifically, and if Dreamgirls comes in Amber Riley will surely be nominated. I see The Cher Show at the end of June and I can't wait to report back on that one.
I’ll try to post all the categories a show will be eligible for once they’ve started.THE BOYS IN THE BANDBooth TheatreFirst Preview: April 30, 2018[Scheduled] Opening Date: May 31, 2018[Scheduled] Closing Date: August 11, 2018- Revival of a Play [Produced by David Stone, Scott Rudin, Patrick Catullo, Aaron Glick, and Ryan Murphy]- Direction of a Play: Joe Mantello- Lead Actor in a Play: Jim Parsons [as Michael]- Feat Actor in a Play: Matt Bomer [as Donald]- Feat Actor in a Play: Charlie Carver [as Cowboy]- Feat Actor in a Play: Robin De Jesus [as Emory]- Feat Actor in a Play: Brian Hutchison [as Alan]- Feat Actor in a Play: Zachary Quinto [as Harold]- Feat Actor in a Play: Andrew Rannells [as Larry]- Feat Actor in a Play: Michael Benjamin Washington [as Bernard]- Feat Actor in a Play: Tuc Watkins [as Hank]- Costume Design of a Play: David Zinn- Lighting Design of a Play: Hugh Vanstone- Scenic Design of a Play: David Zinn- Sound Design of a Play: Leon Rothenberg
God, I hope Tootsie transfers in the spring. I'm dying to see Santino in that role.I think this will be a Moulin Rouge vs. Hadestown season, in terms of musicals. For plays, I think The Ferryman will take a lot, though I'm curious how strong a competitor Mockingbird will be.
I feel like Mockingbird is going to be incredible, that cast, The Shubert, Rudin will certainly be making sure it is the best it can be.
Friendly reminder that a list of shows that have actually announced is available here.

If it does well, I wonder if it'll make it to this season.I see Hadestown dominating next season however, I hope they transfer."https://www.nationaltheatre.org.uk/shows/hadestownIt is definitely transferring.
We also are expecting beetlejuice i believe!!
Any news if Girl From the North Country is going to transfer? I know it is playing in Toronto from Feb to Mar. If it opens in time (like late April), I think it could be a contender for Best Musical.
"And the American Theatre Wing's Tony Award for Leading Actor in a Musical goes to...Patrick Page, HADESTOWN."You heard it here first, folks!
How do you guys think the Head Over Heels cast will be categorized in the acting categories? Is it possible they will all be considered featured?
