Debates and discussions for the category of Featured Actress in a Play. I also included some contenders that didn’t get nominated.
FEATURED ACTRESS IN A PLAY - Susan Brown [as Hannah Pitt, et al], ANGELS IN AMERICA - Norma Dumezwini [as Hermione Granger], HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD - Deborah Findlay [as Hazel], THE CHILDREN - Denise Gough [as Harper Pitt, et al], ANGELS IN AMERICA - Laurie Metcalf [as B], THREE TALL WOMEN

I don’t think Schumer was bad in it, and I certainly don’t want her to fail, but in my opinion she was only ok, while Benanti was dynamite... whenever I think back on the show, the most memorable parts were Benanti’s... she stole the show. For me."

Gideon has gotten over it and moved on. Maybe you should, as well?

Ha! That's quite a bold statement!I can picture it now: future Tony winners for years to come will feel no sense ofaccomplishment whatsoever, because the credibility of the Tonys was ruined when that one guy from that one short-lived play that one year didn't get nominated.

What snub or snubs deserve a mention this year?
I think the one that keeps coming up the most in the reactions-threa
Will Yerma go to Broadway after off Broadway? Apr 29

I wonder whose schedule prevented it from extending its Off-B’way run. The posts and reviews from this message board alone made me hope to get to see it. It’s not often we see an Off-B’way production, and especially performance, excite the masses.
Will Glenda Jackson win the Lead Actress Tony? Apr 29

Jackson is winning without any competition at all. Rashad and Ridloff are giving good performances in just-okay plays. The fourth spot will be a filler nominee from a closed production. Had Metcalf and Denise Gough been placed in Lead, she would have at least prevailed against some worthy contenders.
Funny how last year the category had five win-worthy performances, and at least another 3-5 worthy contenders [i.e. Allison Janney, Mary-Louise Parker, Janet McTeer] didn’t even get a nomin

BroadwayForBrokePeople.com is one of my favorite websites because it compiles all the essential information regarding rush policies. If a person is willing to do a little research and stand in line for an hour or three, an affordable ticket is possible.
I unfortunately never got to see Jan Maxwell on Broadway. To those who did: Where do you think she likely placed in the votes when she was nominated for her 5 Tonys? Was she ever competitive for the win?
2005 Feat. Actress in a Musical - Joanna Gleason [as Muriel Eubanks], DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS - Celia Keenan-Bolger [as Olive Ostrovsky], THE 25th ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE - Jan Maxwell [as Baroness Bomburst], CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG - Kelli O’Har
This thread is why I love BroadwayWorld. To see such a passionate response out of the majority of posters makes me want to see this so badly. Unfortunately, my next trip to NYC isn’t until 10 days after it closes. Fingers crossed this extends.
Also, I’m thrilled Glenda Jackson is getting such positive reviews but she has little to no competition outside of Condola Rashad. The kind of reviews Billie Piper is garnering for makes me wonder if she would have won the Tony ov

What a tumultuous history for “1984” and its involvement with the Tonys.
It was deemed ineligible for Tony consideration allegedly because producer Scott Rudin would not allow Tony voter, Jose Antonio Vargas, to see the show (allegedly because of Rudin’s disdain for Vargas’s review of “The Social Network” in 2010. Link to review: https://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/747233).
As of April 12, the play once again became eligible for the Tonys because Vargas recused himself as a voter
I purchased a DEH ticket for tomorrow -- Wednesday, May 17 -- at 2pm. I am having to push back my trip a few days and Telecharge said the box office won't issue me a refund. Therefore, I thought I would make a post here. Just want to get back what I paid.
It's 1 Ticket / Right Orchestra / Row K / Seat 24 / Total cost that I paid: $203
Will respond to the first PM and go from there (prefer Venmo).

Not to hijack the thread but thank you sooo much for this comment. I'm going in a couple weeks and have eight slots. I figured I would save Groundhog Day for my trip next month, but it is after the Tonys and I hadn't even thought about Karl vacating to fully recover.

I'm based in Georgia and come to Manhattan often, but I've never been to Brooklyn. Seeing this play will change that! Ironically, I don't know how long or short of a ride it is from where I'm staying to Brooklyn... although I'm sure it's not
I searched for a thread on this show/topic and couldn't find any results. Has anyone seen the production? I'm going to NYC later this month to catch as many Tony nominated productions I can, but I'm thinking I may have to get in this production before it closes May 28. Whether or not a fan of the play, Dianne Wiest seems to be getting a ton of praise.
Please don't underestimate Denis Arndt. I will always be curious how much more likely of a win he would have on Tony night if Heisenberg was still running. His performance in that show was very win-worthy. But with no nom for Best Play or Mary-Louise Parker, I don't believe he'll get more than this nomination. Campaign or not -- and with no Glick + Nathan Lane being in Featured -- this category has become a bit of a cakewalk for Kline.
